CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

Anna’s Point-of-View

“Anna…?”

“Anna!” I felt someone slap my shoulder. I turned to see Gemma staring at me with confusion. “You’re awfully quiet this morning.” She gave her order to Christian, the guy who always tends to me at Roses café.

“Alright.” He said then turned to me. “The usual?”

I nodded and handed him, “Thank you, Chris.”

“Tell me what’s been bothering you.” Gemma asked as soon as our bums had sat. “You and Harry have been pretty distant at breakfast.”

I shrugged, “It’s pretty complicated.”

“Ooooh. I like ‘complicated’. Now tell me about it.” she demanded. Gemma and I had gotten a lot closer since I left for London. She was here for a whole week every month. We’d go out to for some coffee or tea in the morning while we partied at night. Harry would always get mad at her, and mostly me, whenever Henry would call up Harry to tell him that we both came home drunk. Since then I always told her anything and everything in my mind. But I think this one is harder to tell her than I thought.

“Last night, before left for dinner… Harry told me that I might be a great mother someday.”

“So? That’s great! He’s showing some signs that… you know… he’s putting a lot of effort on making you his.” She clapped once and jumped on her seat.

I shook my head, “The thing is, Gemma, I couldn’t- I can’t have a baby.”

“No…” she started shaking her head and was backing away from her seat. “Don’t tell me you’re-”

I giggled, “No, silly! I just… I don’t see myself having a baby. I’m a one woman show.” I shrugged. I just couldn’t tell her that I was gonna die that’s why I couldn’t bear children.

“You don’t want children?” she breathed on relief.

“I guess so?”

“But Harry loves to have children.” She pouted.

“What does this have to do with Harry anyway?”

“Harry is obviously showing you some signs, dear Lopez. And you said it so yourself, he admitted to you his feelings about you.” She fiddled with her fingers. “Maybe he wants to finally make it official?”

I smirked, “There’s nothing to make official, Gems. I am not in love with him. All I see in him is a brother, a best friend, that’s all.”

“Uhuh. But let us go back to the events of yesterday morning, shall we?” she winked. “You attempted to kiss him for two times! That’s a sign that you’re falling for him.”

“What’s with the creepy grin, Gem?” I shifted uncomfortably in my seat.

She shook her head and started giggling, “You, my friend, and beginning to fall in love with my little brother.”

“That’s just absolutely insane.” I waved like somehow that idea will vanish with it.

“No.” she shook her head and smiled, “It just love.”

“Coffee for Miss Lopez and Miss Styles!” I wanted to face palm myself for Chris to scream out our names. Soon enough, girls were crowding our path to get our coffee. Some people asked for autographs while the others asked for pictures.

“So much for laying low today.” Gemma spoke.

After a good 10 minutes with the girls, we finally got to our coffee. We didn’t bother staying in there longer. The lads were waiting for us back at my flat.
