"Goldenheart! Goldenheart! Goldenheart!" yowls of happiness were heard all around the clan. Featherpaw stared up at her friend in awe. 3 moons had passed since she found out about Duskwhisker and Fawnheart's meetings. She decided not to tell her clan since Dustwhisker has been nothing but kind to her ever since she joined RiverClan. She shook her head letting out her thoughts and gave up all her attention to the kind tom with his blue eyes gleaming with excitement. Featherpaw couldn't help but let out a purr rumble in her throat.
And his warrior name suited him well, he did have a heart made out of gold, nothing but pure gold. Featherpaw looked around and saw a few of her she-cat clanmates staring at Goldenheart as if they were trying to catch his attention. Of course. Goldenheart was one of the most wanted toms in the clan. Featherpaw never really had noticed his handsome features. He had a well-lined muzzle, fluffy chest that you could lay on for moons, a small adorable pink nose that tracked even the most sneaky of prey, a deep yet kind voice that could cure a heartache in mere heartbeats, and his eyes. Those beautiful blue pools. Featherpaw would often stare at them in awe and get easily distracted by them. She stopped dead in her thinking. What was she thinking? There were far more she-cats that actually had a chance with the tom. Nevertheless, she would support Goldenheart in any of the choices he made.
She heard a purr from behind her. It was a familiar purr."I can tell what those eyes mean my dear." Mintfur purred. She was RiverClan's medicine cat and the cat who saved Featherpaw from dying of coldness or drowning when she was found in RiverClan's river. Featherpaw didn't answer due to embarrassment.
"My parents, Ripplefang and Mallowflower used to look at each other the same way you look at Goldenheart." Mintfur meowed looking up at the sky. "They hunt with StarClan now." she mewed. "You should go and congratulate Goldenheart, I need to go and store some herbs." she purred getting up.
"Alright, thank you for talking with me." Featherpaw replied. Mintfur gave Featherpaw a nod goodbye and padded into the medicine cat den. Featherpaw looked at the clearing and saw Goldenheart getting a mouse out of the fresh-kill.
She padded over to him, "Congrats, your warrior name suits you well." Featherpaw told him while taking out a fish out of the fresh-kill pile. Goldenheart's eyes lit up at her compliment. Featherpaw gave him a small smile.
"I thought you weren't watching," Goldenheart purred amusingly, "I saw you staring off into the clearing when everyone left and Mintfur snapped you out of your daydream perhaps." He let out a small mrrow of laughter.
"You have no idea." Featherpaw blurted out. Goldenheart eyed her suspiciously.
"What were you daydreaming about?" Goldenheart asked curiously. Featherpaw tried to think of an excuse, and she could feel her anxiety flowing off like a thick gust of wind.
"Nothing just uh hunting er, fish yeah!" Featherpaw said. Goldenheart nodded and silently resumed on eating his mouse and Featherpaw ate her fish.
"Well," Goldenheart got up and stretched his hind legs," If you're that excited about hunting, we could go hunting right now."
Featherpaw hesitated at first, she wanted to doze off in her nest. But she thought it would be nice to clear her mind for a bit. "Sure, we can go to Beech Copse if that's fine." she mewed at last. Goldenheart just nodded and flicked his tail for Featherpaw to follow him. She quickly licked her paw and drew it over her ear and padded next to him. She followed the scent of the beech trees and padded over a small trail, knowing they were close to their hunting area.
Goldenheart broke off in a sprint, "Catch me if you can!" he yowled chuckling. Featherpaw smiled and ran after him. Due to her slim build and just a little smaller than him. she was faster than him and easily caught up to him. She jumped on his back with her claws sheathed. Goldenheart gasped with surprise but he devilishly smiled and ran as fast as he could making Featherpaw almost fall. Goldenheart then stopped and started looking over to where they came from.
