Millie lead me to a street not so far from the coffee shop. I stared in awe at the houses.
"This," she started, "Is one of the oldest streets here in Oaksville. All of these houses were built in 1950 and have been kept here since then. Neat, huh?"
I nodded my head. We walked down the street admiring more of the vintage homes. Millie talked on and on about them, but I wasn't paying attention.
No.
I was too busy taking in her features. Her lovely brown eyes, and her oh-so animated expressions. What an angel.
Suddenly, my phone started to ring.
I brought it up to my ear.
"Hello?" I began.
"Honey I'm done with my meeting. Where are you?"
"U-uh I'll be there soon."
"Where-"
I ended the call before my Mom could say anything else.
"Millie, I'll have to go now."
She seemed a bit sad to see me go, but gave me a nod and a smile.
"Wait!" Millie exclaimed, before I could fully turn around.
"Yes?" I questioned.
"Maybe we could, exchange numbers?" She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Oh uh sure!"
I hurriedly brought my phone out, almost dropping it.
After exchanging numbers we said goodbye and went off.
I met my Mom outside of the coffee shop.
"And where, may I ask, were you?" She interrogated, getting into the front seat.
"I-uh walked around." I replied, hoping she wouldn't find out about Millie. My Mom has always been a teaser.
"With a certain 'Millie' huh?" She smirked.
I felt like dying right then and there.
"H-how did you know?"
"I have my ways."
I groaned, as my mom chuckled and began to make kissy-faces.
Ah yes, moms. How I LOVE their teasing *sarcasm*
