I drummed my hands nervously on the park bench. I was going to do it. I was going to tell Millie that I liked her.
"Hey Finn!" She appeared out of the bloom.
I must've looked startled, because she laughed at my expression.
She took a seat next to me.
"Okay, I've got something to tell you."
"So have I." I managed to mutter out.
Her eyes widened with curiosity. "Really? What is it?"
"O-oh nothing. You got first."
She cocked an eyebrow, then begun to tell me the news.
"Well.... I got the part!!! I'm going to L.A!"
I stood up and jumped.
"That's amazing Millie! "
She followed my actions.
"I'm so excited, and nervous."
"I would've love to see you dance."
She tapped my shoulder. "Finnie boy, you forget." She gave me a sly smile as she showed me a ticket headed to L.A. that had my name on it.
"Millie you didn't have to!"
"How couldn't I! You're my best friend. If you weren't there, I might've not even auditioned. So you're coming with."
My cheeks were hurting from smiling too much.
Millie pulled me in for a hug.
"So, you were going to tell me something?" She asked as we pulled away and sat down again.
I darted my eyes nervously.
"Oh um. Never mind that. More about your audition and when we're leaving!" I covered. Phew. That was close.
Millie didn't seem to notice anything, thank goodness, so we chatted on about our flight and her ballet.
Millie brought her phone out of her pocket. She looked at me with wide eyes.
"It's already 12:00! Well, I suppose I'll be going now. My mom is probably freaking out."
I chuckled and gave her a smile.
"Goodnight, Millie."
"Goodnight, Finn."
And with that we separated ways, leaving my unspoken feelings in the trees.
wth is that last part ahah
