Your life had been a mess after that. Not being able to focus, loss of sleep, failing tests and assignments. Everything in your life had come crumbling down in a week just because one person left you. You never knew how important he was until he was gone.
"Y/N, can you tell us the answer?" Mr. Douglas called out.
Irritation cut through your body like butter. You didn't even raise your hand.
You rolled your eyes and shrugged. "I don't know, four?" You tried to emphasize the 'I don't care' in your voice, and it worked. But a little too well.
"No, but you can get four hours of detention."
At this point it didn't even phase you, you just sat there taking in everyone's stares and whispers. Within a week you had finally understood the saying "The world is gonna keep turning whether you're ready or not." You had to be ready to move on, so a lot of things you didn't really care about anymore.
The bell rang indicating class was over. You made your way to the detention room with no emotion on your face.
You slammed your backpack on the floor and plopped in your seat. Michelle gave you a stare, before continuing drawing whatever she was drawing.
The teacher put on the motivational video, then went back to sleep.
"So, you got detention."
You rolled your eyes. At this point you knew the whole video word for word. You loved Steve, but, this video made you want to misbehave more.
Even so, you continued to listen. Not too long afterwards, Peter came in also. You turned and watched him sit by Michelle, running his hands through his hair.
"What are you in for?" Michelle questioned, not looking up from her drawing.
Peter sighed irritated. "I didn't do this weeks homework." Michelle dropped her pencil and stared at him in shock, as did you.
"You, Peter Parker, the one who would have a panic attack if he got a 93....didn't do his homework all week?" Peter only nodded in response.
At that point you had turned away, deciding that since he wasn't your friend anymore, it wasn't your business to worry.
"What's got your underwear in such a knot?" Peter furrowed his eyebrows at MJ's odd question before disregarding it.
He glanced over at you, causing MJ to do the same. She made a baffled face at Peter. "What happened?" She mouthed. He only shook his head. "Dumb argument." He mouthed back.
MJ rolled her eyes. "Just say sorry." Peter immediately shook his head. "She's the one who was wrong, not me!" Michelle rolled her eyes at him again.
"Is it gonna hurt your ego that bad?" She was now whispering angrily, loud enough to where you could hear. You did your best to shut out their conversation, but it wasn't really working.
"I don't have an ego, she's the one with the ego!" He whisper yelled back. You wanted to scoff but you kept your mouth shut, staring at Steve's tragic uniform.
"Look it doesn't matter, just apologize so you guys can be friends again." MJ was now slightly begging. Peter put his hand on his forehead. "I don't know. I don't know if we ever will be friends again."
MJ scoffed at him. "Wow, you're gonna stop being friends with someone who knows you inside out over a disagreement?" Peter didn't respond. "Great job Peter."
MJ shook her head and continued her drawing. Peter's hands formed into fists, knowing she was right, yet she didn't understand what was really going on.
If she had known, she would definitely side with him.

Detention was finally over, and you zoomed out as quickly as you could. As soon as you did though, your phone rang. You picked it up to see who it was.
Steve.
"Hello?"
"Why are you in detention, Y/N?" You began to look around, trying to find out where he was hiding.
Giving up, you sighed. "Why are you here, Steven?" You were leaning on the lockers, staring at the ground.
"We need you to be at our place at four. There's...something important happening."
You knew 'something important' meant you were finally fighting one another. You looked across the hall to see Peter on the phone as well.
He spotted you looking at him, and turned the other way, letting you stare at nothing but his back. You bit your lip as your heart began to break into pieces.
"You have to let him go, Y/N." You stared at his back for a little longer, before sighing and turning away.
"Yeah...I-I know." You could feel Steve's pity through the phone which didn't make you feel any better, but you weren't in the mood to argue.
"Just be prepared, alright?" Knowing he could see you, you nodded as a response. Your attention quickly caught onto Peter as he stormed out the school doors. You wanted to go and comfort him, but you knew that would do no good. You were enemies now.
"I'll see you at four." Steve then hung up the phone, leaving you there to slouch.
Soon, you were going to fight you best friend.
