Alexander's POV.

I was waiting in the Institute's office for my parents. I had scheduled a meeting with them, so I could tell them, as promised, about what was going on with Magnus and I. I unfortunately had to complete this task alone. I was scared. I wasn't too worried about my mother. I was more afraid of my father. But I promised Magnus I would do this for him.

When they came in, they could immediately tell something was going. As parents, they were of course worried. They took a seat on a small sofa across from the chair I was sitting in. "Alec," my mother started, "is everything alright? There's nothing wrong is there?"

I took a deep breath. 'Be confident,' I thought to myself, 'It will all be okay.' "No- actually, everything is perfect," I answered, smiling softly.

"What is it? You can tell us anything," she said.

"Well first, Magnus and I are engaged," I said carefully.

"That's wonderful!" My mother said, standing and clapping her hands together. "I'm so happy for you Alexander."

My father sighed, "Son- are you sure you want this? Are you sure this is a good decision?"

"I'm happy with him. This is what I want, this is what we want for ourselves."

He sighed again, shaking his head softly, "Okay."

"There's something else," I said. This is the part I was afraid of getting out.

"Yes," my dad said, standing with Mom.

"Magnus is-"  I looked down, I wasn't ashamed, but I knew they wouldn't like this, "Magnus is pregnant." I slowly raised my head to look at their faces. My mother's was a mix of confusion and happiness. My father's was pure anger and hatred.

Instead of yelling at me, or threatening me, he just left the room. "Don't mind him. How- Warlocks can't have children Alexander."

"I know. I don't know how. I don't think it would have happened if it wasn't supposed to. I'm happy though. He's happy. That's what matters. If he wasn't happy, this wouldn't matter to me. He means everything, and he begged me to tell you. So I-"

"You don't have to explain anything. I know you love him. You said you two are happy, that's all I want. I'm happy for you two, and you know how your father is. He'll come around." She walked up to me and lightly slapped the side of my head, not hard, "Use protection next time, you're too young for kids."

I laughed a little, "I think you're just upset because you're getting old. And someone's going to walk around calling you 'grandma.'"

"Me! Old? Never," she laughed softly, "Congratulations Alexander. Now go out and do your duty as a Shadowhunter."

Magnus POV.

I was ready for Alexander to come home. I missed him and I wanted to cuddle. When he walked through the door, I tackled him in a hug.

He hugged me back and gave me a kiss, "I told them."

"You did?!"

He nodded, "Dad is upset about the baby, but he didn't really care about the marriage part. My mom is happy for us."

"Good! That's good. I apologize about Robert, he's never liked me," I pouted. EVERYONE likes me, how could they not? I'm fabulous.

Alexander kissed me again, "Well I like you, a lot. What he thinks doesn't matter."

I nodded. Despite what Alexander said, I knew it bothered him a lot Robert disapproved. I dropped the subject though, I wanted a stress free evening. And that's exactly what I got.
