So one minute I'm sound asleep enjoying my weird dream, next minute I wake up to two strange voices talking about pocket knives it sounds like. I recognized both voices, one of them my idiot brother, but I just didn't remember where the second one is from...
"...And that is why you don't trust my sister Misty with a pocket knife." The stranger says with a chuckle, and my brother laughs hard, knocking his head hard on the van that I was once peacefully sleeping in. I stop his laughter by opening the van door, hitting Leo in the face, making me laugh slightly. When he glared I just laughed even harder.
"Good morning, you perfect ray of sunshine. You sleep well?" Leo says sarcastically making the other man and me laugh harder then ever. After our little laugh off, I stole a few glances of the new person in front of me. The strangers eyes and hair are a midnight black, along with his glasses. He has a pale white sweatshirt and old ragged jeans with oldies converse sneakers, the kind me and my friends wore when we were kids. Why does he look so familiar?
"Do I know you?" I ask quickly observing the poor maybe normal stranger. His chances of being normal are almost zero because he actually laughed at one of my brothers jokes with me.
A smirk travels across his face, showing his maybe mischievous side. "Trust me, you know who I am. Here's a hint: Zona." My eye brow rises slowly, as I remember more and more. When I fully remember, my eyes widen and I spread out my arms.
"ALEXANDER!!!!" I yell excited with a grin from ear to ear, hugging the breath out of the poor guy, almost making him cough. He pats my back and mutters comforting things, loosening up my hug as minutes go by.
"Well, THIS was more dramatic then my meet with the guy." Leo says loudly and sarcastically, minutes later.
"Shut up Valdez." Both me and Alex say and at once we let go of each other as quickly as possible. Leo looks at both of us, raising a eye brow looking from me, to Al.
"Just like when we were in junior high." He says rolling his eyes. Me and Al grunt in disbelief and look at him straight in the eye. "What did you say?" Al asks glaring at my twin.
"Ah never mind... oh look a box, lets finally do some work..." Leo says and I groan. I didn't wake up for this.
"Your fault for waking up, my fault for agreeing" Al whispered and I chuckled. The awkward trio that I was sadly in, each grabbed a box and went straight towards the brand new apartment. A suspicious Leo stayed in back of the conversation me and Al were now in, usually glaring at Al for no reason whatsoever. Al talks about his dog, Lucy, who's now 9 years in dog years, and who still looks like a rat with hair extensions. I tell him about me and Leo's adventures and how they all went down hill, making him laugh once or twice. Then we go on about our lives as the age of fourteen, with a grimaced Leo in the background making puke noises when we talk about him. I roll my eyes, call him immature, and the same thing happens in a cycle except with more colorful words from Al in each rotation...
Finally, after what felt life hours, we were done. The three of us leaned against the living room wall and stared deeply into the boxes on the hardwood floor. Later after a few minutes Leo went into the moving truck to get his phone, leaving both Al and me bored and unoccupied. I groaned when I realized I had to unpack all of that and Al just chuckled. What a jerk guys can be, I'm serious.
"Kyle and Heather are going to go nuts when they realize that you two came back." He says, laughing a bit more. I smile thinking about those two, how they could've had a future with each other if wanted.
"Oh yeah, they'll have a celebration, especially Ray, who'll LOVE to see my idiot twin back." I mutter the last part, and he laughs even harder.
"Speaking of celebration, we need to have a welcome back party for you two. Everyone will be so excited to see you guys, even Misty, except you may not see any expression whatsoever on her face, but what ever, we're all used to it. You're coming, right?" He says nervously tapping his knuckles against the wooden floor.
"Al, that's very sweet of you to make a party, but are you sure? I mean it's not a HUGE deal we're both back." I say and he shakes his head violently.
"Never in a million years say that. Me, Heather and even Kyle sometimes prayed that you guys would come back. It was kind of like losing a piece of our hearts when you moved..." He said, staring at me. Was he being serious? If he was, this is the first time in years he's ever been serious about something. Ever.
It stayed silent for a while, until he once again spoke up: "So you're coming or not?"
I looked up at him and nodded. "You're nuts if you think I'd say no to celebrating with my best friends again."
He rolled his eyes and got up, stretching slowly and dramatically. "So then, plans settled. Leo said he's coming as well, and let's just say I have a plan on how to make it all a surprise. Anyways, I gotta go, Lucy may miss me. I'll pick you up for the party, no worries." He waved and walked out the door, leaving me so dazzled...
Did Alexander Zona ask me out to a party?!
