My boots stamped awkwardly on the ancient tiles. My Fall Out Boy shirt stood out in the otherwise pale dinner. Kyle walked beside me, with a grin on his face and all his brown hair out of place. His eyes scanned the restaurant joyfully as I waved to Tony's grandsons kid, Tj. "Hey Tj." I waved smiling lightly. He waves back, a bright smile on his face as he holds a platter or soups and breakfast wraps.
"Sit anywhere you guys want, our newbie will be taking your orders!" He says. I laughed wondering who Tony's newbie was. "Wonder who it is?" Kyle whispered. "I thought you might know. Since your always at parties and such." I squeezed into a small corner booth, I popped an ear bud into one ear, letting the other dangle loosely. I slid a pen out of my tight jean pocket. I lightly doodled across the thin napkins. "Hey-" I could have screamed, because Leo had appeared right beside my shoulder, like a bad luck charm. I placed a hand over my sketches, feeling insecure. "Well they weren't that bad." Leo said. His purple attire told me he must be the dinners newbie, complete with a name tag that spelled "Leo Voldez"
"So your the newbie!" Kyle chimed gleefully. "Long time no see! How ya been? Settled into your apartment?" Leo grinned and looked at me with malice in his eyes. "I guess you guys came for iced tea?" I narrowed my eyes at him. "Actually we planned on staying for breakfast but I think we better go-" Kyle cut in to shout "Oh c'mon! She'll have hot chocolate and I'll have black coffee and a western omelet." Kyle finished proudly.

"Oh c'mon! She'll have a hot chocolate and I'll have black coffee and a western omelet." Kyle exclaimed and I wrote it all down in a snap. I glance up to find a flustered Ray, who looks like she just wants to leave. I look down once again, creating a bigger knot in my stomach. I don't want to make her feel uncomfortable like that! I decide to ignore it and pretend that I don't even notice. "Coming right up folks!" I say with a wink as I speed walk away. At least I can get away from them for a bit.
After about 3 minutes, I carry a mug of steaming hot chocolate with whip cream on the top with my right, and a smaller more narrow mug of black coffee on my left. I saw their table a few minutes later: A more relaxed Ray with a cheerful, clueless looking Kyle. I walk towards them, careful not to spill a drop, and I put both drinks on the coasters provided in my light purple apron. "Alright, the omelets coming right up! Ray, you sure you don't want anything?" I ask and she nods her head, not looking at me in the eye.
Yup, Ruby was wrong, she hates me.
"Alright that's fine- Kyle your omelets coming no worries." I say as I hurry to the kitchen and give them the order. As soon as I do that, I catch another table and start ordering for them. I went to as many tables as I could, trying to stay away from Ray. I don't want to hurt her or be stupid around her. That and I'll just screw up. I finally went back to the kitchen and the chef asked me to wait a moment. That's when questions started popping into my head. What if I screw up? What if I start asking stupid questions? What if I AM stupid? What if-
"LEO! GET A HOLD OF YOUR SELF MAN! OMELETS DONE!" My new friend, Roberto, tells me. He's the chef, who's just a tall, slender guy with a really good talent of cooking.
