Chapter 3

"Please, I would never choose someone else over you"

Leo Valdez & Alexander Zona

Leo V.

It's been awhile since I smiled and really meant it. I'm usually used to being all sarcastic and lonely me, and being the person that would get frustrated when people thought that my sister was my girlfriend. It gets lonely these days...

But then I met freaking Alexander. He may be an annoying twit but he's okay at least. He's a REAL twit to my sister, but I pretend not to notice because she'll most likely to be a grenade when he's around and kick him in the stomach. When we were kids it was MUCH worse. Ruby used to run the poor guy over with her bike, making him cry for help, sometimes the other way around. They sometimes went way to extreme, but they still took it as a joke anyway...

But he's getting better and nicer to my sis. A little to nice to be honest...

I got out of the truck with my phone and checked the time, which apparently was around 4. Perfect, 5 hours wasted on boxes. Since we don't have a lot of stuff at all, we're almost done.

"Leo!" Alex called out loudly and I looked up, apparently its him with a rat thing in his hands. I don't know what it is and I don't want to know. "I told you Lucy survived all these years! Look how healthy she looks!" I look closer and find a quivering chihuahua in his hands. I put on one of my fake smiles and nodded. "Oh yeah, she's doing great." I say. Mother of god, the poor thing,

He grins and holds her to his chest, having her quiver less and relax more. "Are you really going to come to the party? Because Ruby said she's coming, and I don't want you to be left out." He says and Leo shakes his head. Ruby would never say 'yes' to anything Alex says. She hates him, well.. that's what I thought anyway. "I'm going. Oh and I meant to ask you: I thought you and Ruby hated each other?" I asked, but it came out a little more tempting then I intended it for.

"She's okay... it's just we never got along that well in the past. Me and her are good friends now." He says and I shrug. True. "I need you at the party early so you can look after it, because I made a stupid mistake telling Ruby I'd pick her up, even though we're 6 blocks away. Mind if you could do that for me?" He asks and I nod. I walk back to my apartment and wave, and he waves back. Life is finally getting better.

I walked into the apartment to find Ruby unpacking boxes and such. She changed into a tank top and shorts with a big huge bun, while having loud 70's music playing. She may look stupid at the moment, but she got more then half of the apartment unpacked and set up. 'Good job!" I say loudly so she can hear me. She sways her round face at me and gives a thumbs up. "THANKS!" She says. After a few minutes she turns to me. "WHAT TIME IS THE PARTY?" She asks loudly while unpacking a box of her stuff. I check my reminders on my phone. "8:30!" I say and she gasps, dropping the heavy box on her foot, then hits her head on the fridge. She starts yelling in pain and I run over. "You okay?" I ask and she nods. "IT'S ON IN 25 MINUTES! I NEED A SHOWER, I NEED AN OUTFIT, I NEED OTHER THINGS!" She gets up and runs to the bathroom. "I LOOK TERRIBLE!" she shouts in the bathroom and I face palm. This everybody, is my weirdo sister. "CHECK THE TIME FOR ME!" She says as I hear the shower rain down. After 10 minutes or so, she comes out wearing a bath robe and a big towel on her head, making it hard not to laugh. "Al asked me to go early, so I'll see you in like 20, 30 minutes?" I ask and she nods, looking at me like she's scared, and I laugh. "Knowing him, he'll be right on time, so hurry up." I say and she freaks out again. I laugh and head out. He better be at least a little late, or my poor sister will explode...
