Annie's POV
The feeling. It's like screaming, and no one can hear. You almost feel ashamed. That someone could be that important, and without them you feel like nothing. No one will ever understand how much it hurts. You feel hopeless, like no one can save you. And when it's over, and it's gone. You almost wish you can have all that bad stuff back. So that you can have the good. In your wildest dreams you never think you'll have someone that means that much to you. That person for me. Was Katie. And that is exactly how I felt when the heart monitor sped up. I've only heard that sound once before. October 1st 2015. In a moment similar to this.
"Bubba.. you can't leave me. Caleb I need you. You just can't leave without saying goodbye. Who's gonna sit with me till I fall asleep. Who's gonna write me songs. Who's going to be my best friend. Caleb I need you. Mommy needs you. Daddy needs you. Hayley needs you. The fans need you. Caleb pull through. You have people that love you, and need you by their side. Caleb you know me better than anyone. You know all my secrets. My strengths, my weaknesses. How to make me laugh. Everything I've ever been through. Caleb you can't just leave me like this. It's both of us or none of us. I love you so so so much Bubba." The monitor speeds up. I scream for nurses doctor's, anyone and everyone. Soon it flat lines. I scream through my sobs. I sat there holding his hand, sitting in a pool of my tears that expanded by the second. Until they came and pulled his bed away.
This will go one of two ways. She abruptly wakes up. Or it flat lines. I scream for nurses. And the others. Brennan and Syd grab my hands. The doctors check her heartbeat, pulse etc etc. After a few more moments it returns to normal. I let out a huge breath. I tightly hug Brennan. Brennan and I each sit on a side of the bed.
"How have you been?" He breaks the silence.
"Eh. Really sucked after you stopped talking to me." I weakly reply.
"Well it really sucked when I heard your song..."
"You listened to it?"
"Of course I did. Caleb and I were always your biggest fans. You forget I was always there when you recorded his songs."
"Right.. listen I'm sorry about the song. I wrote it when Hayden and I were in our last fight. And the song it helped me. You know what had happened with me before that. The song isn't just about you. There's a piece of everyone in it. On Haydens end to." Hard to say that.
"I know Anns. I know. It's your best one yet." He smiles at me.
"Thanks Bren." I smiled at Katie. Her eyes flutter.
