Hey guys! Here is the first of many band one-shots! If you have any suggestions for a pairing and scenerio you want, please message me!

“Jaime, I don’t want to go swimming.” Vic explained to Jaime, his boyfriend of eight months. Of course, Jaime wouldn’t hear a word of it.

It had been a warm day. Well, most days in California were warm. This day in particular just happened to have been relatively hot, and so Jaime had decided that he and Vic would go to the the local swimming pool. Vic, on the other had, had other ideas.

Now, it wasn’t that Vic hated water. No, showers were one of his favourite thing in the world, especially when his spiky-haired beauty joined him. Vic just wasn’t fond of chemically enhanced, freezing cold water which had probably been contaminated by every child in and out of town. When he thought of it, the only thing he could do was cringe.

Vic didn’t hate water, but he definitely hated public swimming pools. Actually, he seemed to hate anything public. He didn’t favour restaurants, hadn’t a liking for parks, and despised, despised cinema theatres. If it were up to him, Vic would never leave the house.

Jaime seemed to be the exact opposite of his long-haired senior. He loved having lunch at the taco truck down the street, going to amusement parks brought him back to his lovely childhood, and he could just scream for long walks and window shopping. He couldn’t seem to fathom the idea that someone wouldn’t like other people. What did it matter if it was dirty and infested with germs? That was life!

“Vic, can’t you just do this one thing for me? I compromise for you all the time!” the younger boy had gotten very tired of being cooped up in his house all day because no one would spend time with him. What fun is going to outings if you have no one to join you?

A loud groan of noncompliance came from Vic’s mouth. Didn’t Jaime understand situations like this terrified him? Maybe not considering he had never expressed his severe social anxiety. He had always been afraid that Jaime would hate him or do worse: give him sympathy. Vic was never one for sympathy.

He nibbled on his nails, trying to find a way to explain in the least exposing way that he didn’t want to go. He guessed that he could simply refuse, but that would result in a huge arguement that Vic didn’t want to have. He hated arguing almost as much as he hated going outside.

“Jaime, please.” his voice was whiny. He hated it. He found that he hated a lot of things. It was a surprise to him that he didn’t loathe his boyfriend. He hardly ever let anyone get close, and for him to venture out and snag himself such a catch was quite the miracle. At least, that’s how his brother had put it.

Vic’s brother was one of the few people in his life that knew of his immense fears. The people that knew of his condition amounted to a whopping four. His mother, his father, his brother, and his best friend Tony all knew of his disorder. Other than those select few, Vic was a locked book whose key had been lost long ago.

Although Mike, Vic’s brother, was younger than him, he often times acted as the protector. When Vic would be bullied in high school, it was Mike who came to save the day. When Vic was suffering from a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad breakup, it was Mike who was there to hold Vic as he sobbed to him in anguish. Mike had always been there to comfort Vic, but when Vic moved out, Vic found that he had to comfort and defend himself.

“Tell me why you don’t want to go. Why are you fighting me so hard? It’s just the pool!” Well, to Jaime it was just the pool. To his boyfriend, it was a death trap of disease and germs and judgemental eyes who would stare him down and insult him when his back was turned.

Jaime had a decent life growing up. He lived with his mother and father and grew up knowing how to stick up for himself. To say that the boy had never been in a fight would be complete blasphemy. He had knocked out his fair share of bigots in his day. Those fights had often been followed by a suspension though.
