Janessa
I woke up thinking I was in Elysium but the constant pounding in my head jolted me from the fantasy. "About time you awake, princess!" Leon said with a dopey look on his face. He had scratches on his face but that was necessarily it.
"How long was I asleep?" I croaked.
He smiled but that turned into a grimace and replied, "Your all time best, three hours!"
"Ha ha very funny. So, how are you feelings?"
"Like I could see Uncle Hades any moment. How about you?"
" Just dandy, is there any nectar or ambrosia?"
" You already used some earlier and we are about out of it."
I looked down and frowned. Leon gave me a sympathetic look and cooed, "Poor baby!" I reached over and playfully swatted him, he looked over at surprised.
We were talking and laughing when the the kids at the medical bay released and we were stiffly walking around camp. We passed Leon's siblings from the Apollo cabin who donned the natural blonde hair and light blue eyes. But Leon didn't look like that at all, he didn't have stark blonde hair, instead he had hair that always reminded me of caramel syrup. His eyes were a dark blue that looked so much like sapphires.
There was a slight drizzle outside when we were on our way to Camp Half-Bloods lake. It's weird, I was once told the Camp had a barrier that controlled it's weather so there would be no snow in the winter, just sun, it would've never rained here, either. They told me it went away when the Gods, our parents, migrated somewhere else. We, as in the demigods, still ended up here at Camp Half-Blood. We can still get the occasional monster so we send out Half-Bloods to scout and that was Leon and I were doing. It's getting bad, more monsters are getting closer and they are getting bigger and a whole lot worse.
"Janessa? Janessa, hello!" Leon said interrupting my train of thought."Hm, what?" I replied. He looked uneasy, as if the manticore's weight was still crushing him. "Are you okay?" I said a little concerned. "Yeah, remember out in the forest when I was fighting the monster?" He paused for a short moment and continued without my answer."It wasn't a monster. It was a human or a demigod but not a monster. The only difference was that they had gold eyes. They were possessed by eidolons, Janessa."
I was shocked. We learned about eidolons when we first got to the camp. They were nasty things, they attacked a group of seven demigods years ago an almost tried to make two of them almost kill each other. "How many of them were there?" I sputtered out. "Three. I turned the first toe against each other and hit the third on the head with the back of my sword." He said very slowly. He looked pale and all the sudden worried. "What if I killed the last one?!?" Leon moaned as he leaned his head back against the board walk. I clicked my tongue and coaxed,"You probably hit the person hard enough to nock the eidolon out of him." Leon looked up with his deep blue eyes and sighed,"It's almost past curfew, we should go back to our cabins." I nodded and held my hand up for him to pull me up.
When I got to cabin three most my siblings were asleep soundly experiencing the dreams of demigods. I always dread the nights because of my own dreams which are more like nightmares. Some nights I wake up in a cold sweat as our youngest camper, Jenny, staring up at me with her luminous green eyes. The Poseidon cabin's age varies from fifteen to six. Jenny always looks up to me so when she sees me post-nightmare it is always a downer. It breaks my heart to tell that as you get older your dreams get worse but when I get to the point of telling her I night my tongue because I want her to look forward to getting older. She's doesn't really say much for her age but her facial expressions show a lot.
I tried to be quiet creeping about the cabin while getting dressed for bed. I didn't want to wake any of my brothers and sisters so I decided just change out of my jeans to cotton shorts. I was about into bed when I heard screaming but I knew exactly who the scream belonged to.
