Chapter 10 - Helping A Friend

Wednesday February 20th, 1991

Danyelle POV:

I woke up this morning, did my usual hygiene, brushed my teeth, took a shower etc and relaxed a bit before school. I walked in the kitchen and seen my dad had made pancakes and we talked for awhile, he was happy and in a good mood.

"Business increased by 10% ever since my dad hired Leon, one good thing that came out of Willie knowing Leon was that you knew him too, introduced me to him and i gave him a job, and now he's bringing more people in, how? i don't know but i don't question it, as log as it brings me green is all that matters." He said laughing. 

"Leon's cool, funny, interesting, he keeps going after this one girl at school, she's my best friend, he be singing to her, writing love letters and all." I told him laughing. "He acts desperate." I just shook my head.

"Well that's interesting, Leon's just being Leon in my opinion." He said laughing. "Anyway i got to go to work in a bit, that bus comes at 7:50am, make sure you get on it and get right to school, go show them smarts off." He told me smiling, and giving me a kiss on the cheek.

"Eww dad now i have to go and wash my face!"

"Aww my little girl is never to old to get a kiss on the cheek from her dad." He walked out the house laughing.

After he left i sat in the living for awhile and watched the news, man LA is wild, well certain parts, i mean it was pretty ok here but 18th street a few blocks away so i mean i'm worried they might bring that bullshit over to Hillcrest Drive. As i walked over to the bus stop guess who i seen driving to School, It was Leon.

"Hey Danyelle what's up?" He said slowing the car down. "You want a ride?"

"No i don't want a ride Leon." I said laughing. "Come on now you know i catch the bus each day with Veronica. You know if i get a ride she's gonna want a ride too, and you know she's with somebody." I shook my head at him, he's just too funny.

"True...but hey what's that got to do with me?" He said laughing. "Come on for real as one friend to another do you want a ride?"

"Ugh yeah." I got in the car and we listened to some Run DMC and some Big Daddy Kane. "So how's things been with you?"

"Things been pretty chill." He said. "But hey you remember Chris right, dude that wear glasses, he usually talks to me, me and him been talking for a past few days, he seems a little off." He said.

"Off, how so?"

"Well he's smart don't get me wrong, but he seems nervous and awkward, i mean he's cool and all but he just seems like he's hiding something." He told me.

"Well have you asked him about it?"

"Every time i try to he brush it off, he said his father treats him like shit but i'm starting to think it's more to this story than meets the eye, not only that but he's getting bullied in school, but i'm gonna put a stop to that." He said as he kept on driving.

We talked for a few more minutes then we pulled into the parking lot of the school. Classes started around 8:45am and we got out around 2:30pm so that's not bad, that's good. I told him i'd talk to him later on, and we went out separate ways, i got ready to head to my 1st class and i seen my girl Veronica talking to another girl in the hallway.

"So he leans over the counter right and he's singing won't you be mines Veronica." She said laughing, and instantly i knew she was talking about Leon.

"Hey Veronica!" I said as she turned around and gave me a hug. "Guess who i got a ride from this morning?"

"Who?"
