Chapter 11 - Old Friends Reunite

Thursday May 30th, 1991

Willie's POV:

Time went by fast, Winter and most of spring has come and gone and it was almost June, summer wasn't that far from starting, it's been months since me and Kelvin hung out, and it's been a minute since me and Danyelle hung out, we've all had busy schedules. Me and Danyelle are friends now, we broke up in April, i ended up telling her how i felt about Kelvin, and she hasn't treated me any different since. I still keep in contact with Kelvin, when we don't talk on the phone that much we usually write letters, i'm glad me and him was able to come to terms on something. I woke up around 7am and turned the radio on listening to 88.5 The Beat, i love that station, they played some public enemy, LL Cool J, Eric B & Rakim and De La Soul, man i was vibing to it as i got myself prepared and did my daily routine. I made some food and as i was about to eat i got a knock on the door. "Who is it?" I said as i went over to it.

"It's Rodney bro, lemme in."

I went over to the door and let him in and gave him a fist pound.

"Yo bro you excited about the last day of school today? I am, i'm excited about finally not having to teach those kids for the summer." He laughed. "Man those are some bad ass kids, it's like some of them don't even want to learn. Anyway how you doing bro, have you talked to your "Friend" Kelvin?" He asked in quotations.

"(Laughing) Man Rodney i swear that you're a trip, and for your information nosy i did, i don't know what he's going to do over the summer, he got work like i do, and we're both starting senior year next year, one last year of football in high school before college, this year i'm going to start looking into different colleges though." I told him.

"Well you want to look for something here or you want to look for something else in the states? I'm just asking buddy but yo my dude it's whatever you want to do, i'd suggest you apply to UCLA though, good school."

"True i might go ahead and look into that and see what's going on with that, you know i finished up all my finals test, instead of going to school for the last day i might just relax and chill because it's just going to be everyone saying goodbye to everyone." I told him. "I know you got to get going though, but hey if you want dude you can stop by the car lot later on, that'd probably where i'll be, pick up some extra hours." I said.

"Alright bet." He got up and left, he said he'd call me later.

I finished eating and i started washing the dishes and then the phone rang, i heard it and on the second ring i answered it.

"Hello?"

"What's up 88?"

Instantly i knew the voice and i smiled, it was kelvin. "Nothin', just relaxing and listening to music, i'm going into work in a little while, see if i can get some hours in today, what about you?"

"I'm chilling too and listening to music, just wanted to hear your voice dude." He said. "So what you got planned for the summer?" He asked me.

"Nothing really, just relax, i got to work alot though, year round i gotta sell cars, that grind never stops, not at all. But i might come up and visit you, who knows?" I was smiling like a kid at the candy shop while i said that. "What about you?"

"I want to see you so bad 88, i just want to hang around you to be honest dude."

"I know i know...yo i got to go but i'll talk to you later on." I hung up, i felt like if i stayed on the phone with him i was going to say some wild shit.

Anyway i got myself together and headed out the door and down to my work place. I got there around 8:30 am and talked to my boss and see if he needed extra people, he said he did and he said he'd let me work, i worked hard and by Midday i sold 4 cars.
