A/N I felt like writing the next chapter, which is awesome. Hopefully this means I'm out of the 'lazy, don't wanna do anything' mood and I can get stuff done.

-Derek-

Stiles, once settled, immediately began questioning me about the Argent's. It's a long story that goes back generations, so I decide to sum it up for him.

"The Argent's is the human family that tried to overtake our reign," I bluntly say and Stiles looks very confused. It's cute. "They have tried marrying into our family for centuries. The blonde that I was keeping an eye on?" He nods, of course he noticed her, it's hard not to. What with her smug-like aura. It's irritating. "She's Kate. Since I was sixteen she kept insisting and trying to convince everyone that we were mates."

"I knew she was a bitch," Stiles grumbles and I look at him, confused. He gives me an innocent look. "I can sense things."

I brush that off with a small smile and continue to explain. "Mother refused her every time, she always believed me since I was the one with the whole inner wolf knowing who my mate is."

"Yeah, you can't just pretend you're the human mate to a werewolf. It'd be more difficult if she were a wolf and you a human."

I hum and think about what he said. "Wait," I turn slightly to look at him. I should mention, we're currently sitting on the side of mi- our bed. "How do you know I didn't just randomly pick you because of your good looks?"

He rolls his eyes. "You flatter me. But I know you're not, you're a good guy Der, I know you wouldn't lie. Plus, there's a connection that I can't deny."

That sends a warm feeling through me as he says it, my inner wolf preens at Stiles' words too. It's overwhelming and incredible to know that I have him for the rest of my life. Not that I'd tell him, I'm not one to convey feelings well.

I hope Stiles will come around to that.

I link our fingers together and he smiles up at me. "Well, now that I'm settled, I feel like stirring shit up. Imma go talk to Kate!"

"What? No!" I yell as he jumps up, pulling me along with him.

"Yes," he nods. "I want to meet this bitch. Rub it in her face that I have your ass all to myself."

I roll my eyes.

I guess I won't ever be bored with this one.

That thought sends a pang of fondness through me, he's gonna be around me forever now and it's such a good feeling. I'm just repeating my thoughts from earlier. I'm still letting this sink in for me, I'm discovering all these things about my mate and it's pretty exciting.

I can't find it within myself to fight against Stiles, so I let him drag me down to the large lounge area where a fire is quietly burning and only one person inhabits it at the moment.

Coincidentally, it's Kate.

Stiles plonks himself down onto one of the long couches, patting the spot beside him, inviting me to take it. With a huff I do so and place a hand on his lower thigh. I really like having physical contact with him right now, it's comforting and elating.

"So Kate," Stiles starts with what must be his shit-eating grin.

I have a feeling he's going to be an asshole. Which I'm perfectly fine with, it'll keep me on my toes, and allow me to be an asshole too.

"How does it feel not having a chance with this hot piece of ass?"

I facepalm. This is not helping the situation. It's the first day and he's already causing trouble. I've gotta get him in on etiquette lessons soon, teach him how to be a reasonable prince/king in public. In private he can go all out with his strong opinions that I have no doubt will be bubbling up inside him.

"Stiles," I harshly whisper.

I look up to see a half amused, half pissed expression set on Kate's face. "What makes you think you'll get to keep him?"

"Are you threatening me?" Stiles asks as if her comment didn't bother him, but it did, I can smell the slight fear, and his heart beat has picked up. It's a good thing that Kate can't tell, she'd relish in the fact that she's affecting him.

"No," she laughs out. "I'm just stating the truth. You're not having him forever. Soon he'll realise what he's missing out on with me and come crawling, dumping you like the trash you are."

"Hey," I growl. "Don't you dare speak to my mate that way. Don't forget, you're only a visitor and not necessarily a welcome one at that, so watch it."

She rolls her eyes. "Whatever. I might just leave anyway, just having this pathetic human in the same palace as me irritates me. He's not one of us, Derek, just leave him already."

"Wow," Stiles breathes out, causing the both of us to turn our attention to him. "You really are a disgusting woman." She looks very put out at that comment, crossing her arms and tapping one long, pointed finger against her bicep, pursing her lips. "No wonder the Hale family hat-"

"Enough," I spit. "Both of you. This is my first day with my mate, so, Kate, please leave us. I want to spend it with him."

She just huffs. "When I get the kingdom? He's the first I'm getting rid of."

Stiles and I simultaneously stand at that comment. Stiles yells out, "You won't get the kingdom!" While I yell, "Over my dead body!"

There's a moment of silence before my wolf comes out. "Get out of my sight."

Kate pales at the growl and hurriedly leaves us.

Stiles is looking up at me with a confusing expression. His mouth is wide open as is his eyes, pupils dilated, cheeks tinted red. "Dude, when Wolfie takes control, it's the hottest thing I have seen."

"Wolfie?"
