Quidditch Through the Ages

Chapter 1: 1947 Graduation

"Come on, wake up Ken or you'll miss graduation!" Orion said putting his school robes on for the last time.

Kennilworthy yawned and got up to change into his robes. "I see everyone went down to breakfast." he said looking around the empty room.

"Yea because you stayed up late again working on that snitch." Orion said pointing over to an overly sized snitch. "Professor Dippet is going to make you find a job in the ministry, you just can't leave Hogwarts and become a time-traveler, that's impossible."

"Well we'll find out today when I talk to him before graduation." Kennilworthy said pulling his blue Ravenclaw tie over his neck and running out the boys' dormitory.

Orion rolled his eyes and followed Kennilworthy out of the Ravenclaw common room.

The two boys walked to their house table where breakfast was already being served.

"It looks like Professor Dippet is going to make his speech." Orion said putting eggs on his plate.

"And it looks like Veronica is looking in your direction." said Kennilworthy laughing.

Orion spit out his eggs and turned around the Hufflepuff table. Where Veronica looked at him confusingly.

"You lair, how embarrassing, I looked like a fool." Orion said cleaning the eggs of his robes.

"Oh come on, its the last day just make a move or some Hufflepuff will get her before you do." Kennilworthy said eating a piece of toast. "Its obvious you like her."

"It isn't that obvious!" Orion said.

Headmaster Dippet sat up from his chair and walked to the podium.

"Good morning students, I hope you all had a wonderful year and I'll be happy to see you all next year. As for the seventh years, I hope we meet again one day as for any of you could turn up at any time."

"Well he's going to be surprised to see you in a few moments talking nonsense about time-travel." Orion whispered.

"If any of you want to talk to me, you can come to my office any time after breakfast, just don't skip classes to see me, don's stress your teachers on the last day." Professor Dippet said walking back to his seat.

"Well we have transfiguration next with Dumbledore, do you think he'll let me slide?" Kennilworthy said examining his eggs.

"Maybe if you passed N.E.W.T.S, no Ken I don't think he will, just wait until after transfiguration." Orion said getting his stuff. "Come on we'll be late."

Kennilworthy grabbed his books and wand. "You know I passed N.E.W.T.S", Kennilworthy said smiling.

The boys walked down the hallway to transfiguration, thinking about after school beginning their new lives.

"Do you think I have a chance with Veronica?" Orion said quietly.

"Do nifflers like shiny objects?" Kennilworthy said smiling.

The boys walked into transfiguration, taking theirs seats in the second row waiting for class to begin.

"I'm gonna do it, I'm going to make a move after school." Orion said smiling.

"There you go, it only took four years." Kennilworthy said laughing.

Professor Dumbledore walked into the room with a paper in his hand, stepping in front of the boys' desk.

"Mr. Whisp, the headmaster called you down, and I must say, well done on your N.E.W.T.S" Dumbledore said winking.

Kennilworthy looked up, confused and walked to the exit of the class room before looking back on Dumbledore who was still looking at him.

"What could make Dippet want to see me? I've been just an average student, I suppose."

Kennilworthy made it to the entrance of Professor Dippet's door.

"Coconut ice."

The door spun open revealing the hallway to the headmaster's office.

Kennilworthy knocked on the wall walking into his office.

Dippet was in his chair at his desk reading a book.

"Ah Mr. Whisp, I see you received my note." Dippet said placing his book down.

"Yes Professor, but excuse me if I'm wrong but I don't believe I did anything wrong." Kennilworthy said walking more into the office.

"Correct you are, but what I wanted to talk to you about was what you told your head of house." Dippet said rising from his chair. "You do not want an occupation in the Ministry of Magic, but instead travel the world learning about quidditch."

"Yes sir, I want to write a book about quidditch in the past and in different countries, inspiration from Newt Scamander's travels." Kennilworthy said.

"Not all professors would allow this, but Mr. Whisp I will allow you to do your travels, I will tell the Ministry you are looking for a quidditch career as you seem to have knowledge for quidditch." Dippet said walking to a bookshelf.

"Thank you professor, I promise you this will be worth it and  a great decision you made." Kennilworthy said running to the door.

"Yes yes, but remember Mr. Whisp, traveling around the world is one thing but to travel through time is different from what any other wizard or witch has done before." Dippet said looking over at Kennilworthy.

"But how did you-"

"Well, Mr. Whisp, you shall be off, a graduation to attend, a new life to began. I wish you all luck Mr. Whisp." Dippet said winking.

"Right sir." Kennilworthy said turning around leaving the office.

Kennilworthy ran down the hallway, excited to tell Orion the news.

"Whisp, where you do you think you are running off to." Professor Sinistra  called.

"On my way back to transfiguration Professor." Kennilworthy said stopping.

"Well class ended, you go off now do whatever Seventh years are doing on their last day." Professor Sinistra said.

"Right." Kennilworthy said turning around back to the Ravenclaw tower.

"So what did Dippet want?" Orion said as Kennilworthy arrived in the Ravenclaw common room.

"You won't believe it, I'm allowed to work on my travels! I could be the first time-traveling wizard! Where should I go first? No, when should I go first?" Kennilworthy said running to Orion.

"First of all that sentence made no sense, and second of all why would old Dippet let you work on time travel? You could change time if you make one mistake." Orion said getting up from a chair.

"Its not like I'm going to meet anyone, I just want to make a book from personal experience, I'll go back to medieval times watch a game or two then go to America or Norway or somewhere and ask questions." Kennilworthy said too fast for hearing.

"You say it like its easy, but if anything happens to you, just so you know you really helped me with Veronica and my classes these past seven years." Orion said.

"Same with you except I don't need a woman in my life, ha ha I'm joking, maybe one day after my travels, some quidditch player or auror girl will be waiting for me." Kennilworthy laughed.

"I'm guessing you won't be attending graduation then? Since you want to work on your snitch time machine thing." Orion asked.

"Yea, can't miss a minute without the work, anyways I don't have anything to receive since no job at the ministry." Kennilworthy said.

"I guess this is it then, well for now, until we meet again Whisp." Orion said smiling holding out his hand.

Kennilworthy shook hand smiling. "Same with you."

Once Kennilworthy left the common room Kennilworthy ran right to the boys' dormitory.

"No time shall be wasted." Kennilworthy said pulling out the snitch. "Now just a few more jinxes and our first travel shall be by tomorrow morning."
