Chapter 4: Wait for You

Kyle?!? Kyle? 

Was she being serious? 

Is she stupid? 

Oh my God. All Kyle ever wants is a cherry to pop, and a good blow. He tells us everyday after practice.

I'm sure she has heard the rumors . . So, why is she going with him? He's not even good at football, or hockey. He even sucks at basketball. When there were tryouts, he couldn't even make a layup.  

All you have to do is run and dunk. 

Ooooh, so hard.

I couldn't hear exactly what they were saying, but Farah's voice gave me butterflies. 

"Who was that kid you were hanging out with this morning, anyway?" Her sweet voice asked. 

Did she mean me?

"Justin? Hockey star. Dude . ." Melody started. I silently sighed, "Haven't you known him since, like, third grade?" Melody asked. 

"I dunno. Maybe. I'm bad with names, ya know? Looks like you were in deep shit with him, what happened? He asked you to the dance?" Farah giggled. I shook my head even though she couldn't see me. 

Nothing against Mel, but I wanted Farah.

"Oh my God noooooo!" 

Damn Mel, make it sound like I'm a bad guy why don't you!

"We're just friends." Melody said honestly. I nodded in approval at her statement. A phone started blasting, and I knew it wasn't Mel's.

You gotta get down on my jock make it rock, pop that booty pop.

Followed by Farahs voice; "Hey, baby!" She giggled, "Right now? Of course!" She said. I rolled my eyes. "Bye!" She apparently hung up. "Melly, I'm sorry but Mom wants me to uh, uhm, help her move the. Ouch. You know, her bad back!" The door shut.

Melody soon opened the closet door, and I slumped out onto the couch. "This is the time you tell me she was really talking to her Mom, right?" I looked to her hopefully. Her baby blue eyes saddened and she shook her head. 

"Do you call your Momma baby?" She got her Chemistry book, and sat next to me.

When Farah sees who Kyle really is, she'll come running into my arms.

And I'll just have to wait till then.
