Melody-
Since it was friday, Justin said he would come over, and help me with Chem homework, and I needed it. I would pretend I was interested in what was going on on the outside, so I could wait till Justin was here.
Justin.
The way he talked about Farah was enough to see he had no interest in me. None. And I sigh about that because in freshman year, I thought we had something, ya know? Even if that was barely freshman year . . now we're seniors . .
Damn time goes by fast.
Anyways, Farah is going with Kyle to the last dance, I'm decorating starting Monday, and I have no one, except a few guys that I honestly loathe.
I kind of wanted Justin to ask me.
Who doesn't?!
At the nervous thought of Justin, maybe I should let my piled bun down, and put some make up on, but he's always saying — oh gosh, I'm a mess. He's so confusing.
A ring of the doorbell caused me to jump.
To late for make up.
So, I sucked it up, and marched downstairs.
My father wasn't home, as usual, so Justin was okay with coming over. He didn't want my father threatening him like last year when he returned my Science book.
"Hey," I breathed, opening the door to find him standing there. Glasses, and all.
You see, Justin has twenty twenty vison, but insists he wears glasses to look smarter, and a little older.
I giggled, and motioned for him to come inside. "Hey, Mel." He sat down, getting comfortable. I rolled my eyes. "You want anything to drink? Eat?" I wondered.
He shook his head, and pinched his stomach. "Nope, told you I'm gaining weight." He grinned up at me. Today he was wearing a hat on backwards, that I was way to lazy to read, rosaries, and black on black. He had changed since school, and he looked good.
"Alright, I'll get my books." I said as he started unloading his backpack. He nodded, and pulled out his phone.
I would have to use all my strength to not look at him and focus on the math the whole time.
How long was he staying anyway?
I shrugged it off, and grabbed what I was trying to work on. When I came back down, Justin was in the same position, typing rapidly on his iPhone.
"Ready?" He asked, glancing up at me. I nodded, and laid my books on the table.
"How long have you liked Farah?" I blurted.
"Third grade. When she moved here." He pouted, and finally put his phone away.
I knew he felt for her big time, and was I a whore for letting my feelings get in the way of Farah's happiness?
I put on the fakest smile known to man, "You two would be great together," I stared into his brown eyes. He grinned.
"That really means a lot—"
The door opened.
"Melody! Can you help me with these boxes?" Farah came in. Justin tensed, I motioned for him to go into the closet, and he did.
"Yeah!" I grabbed a few, and set them on the floor.
"These are last dance dresses. I'm so excited. They're all peach, because Kyle's tie is peach. So . . Eeep!" She giggled.
Poor Justin.
