Justin

Melody has a crush? I squealed like a girl, and begged her to tell me. "Well," She started again, and I rolled my eyes playfully.

"Melodyyy." I whined. Just then Sam came out of the locker room, "Hey, cutie! Justin bothering you?" He asked, coming over to us.

Mel flushed scarlet. My eyes went wide.

She likes Sam?

"Nah, he's alright." Melody slapped my shoulder playfully.

"Stop flirting with my boy," Sam said, motioning to me. "Don't lead the kid on." He grinned.

Melody looked at me finally, and shook her head, but Sam had already walked away.

"Sam? Really? Never would've thought." I shook my head at Mel, "Why?" The question came out a little pleading, and it sounded wierd coming out of me.

Melody laughed, as if there was a private joke why she liked him. "Oh hush." She pressed a dainty finger to her soft plump lips, and grinned, sitting down.

"What do you have to do after this?" I asked curiously.

She shrugged. "Shopping." She smiled faintly, and rubbed her eyes. "I wasn't gonna go to the dance, but since I'm part of the decorating committee, I'm afraid I have to." Melody sighed, and I was kind of surprised she wasn't going.

She's one of the 'most like' girls next to Farah, and some other whore junior. So my eyebrows raised automatically.

I was about to ask, when it's like she read my mind apparently. "It's just not my scene. Ya know?" She avoided my gaze.

"I'll accompany you shopping." I held out my arm for her to lock hers with, and she shook her head.

"Dress shopping . . No." She glanced down at her shoes, then to me. Her baby blue for eyes showed embarrasment.

"C'mon, it'll be better than watching them." I cringed, and Melody noticed, putting a soft hand on my arm.

"She'll see." She gave me a smile. "Let's go." Melody flashed me a smile.

"Yea, I need a dress anyway." I joked, and she giggled,

"Get your shit, Bieber."

I looked around the store, hoping to find something intresting. Melody was changing into a dress she had on a tab, and I sat in the black leather couch, that, everytime I moved, it would make a stupid sound.

"Need anything, sir?" The middle aged woman asked for the millionth time.

"I'm waiting for uh, my friend, she's in there." I pointed to the dressing room.

She nods, and walks back to her counter.

Weirdo.

"How about this one?" Mel's voice asks, the door opening.

I glanced up from my phone I recently had brought out, and she had this fluffy white one on. I made a 'oh no' face, furrowing my eyebrows. "Do you like it?" I asked trying to get her opinion. If she liked it, I wasn't going to let the girl down.

Even though she could pull it off at least a little while other girls would look like ugly ducklings.

She looked down, at the feathered thing, and shook her head distastfully. "No." She let out a giggle.

"Let me help you find one." I said, getting up the creaking and squeaking, ugly couch, and went to look around at the dress shop. "Hmm." I raised an eyebrow at the dresses. "Excuse me," I tapped the woman that kept coming up to me. She turned, and smiled. "Do you have anything, like prom-ish?" I ask her.

She blinks, and stares at me. "What colors do you like?" She asked looking through the racks.

I imagined Melody in all the colors.

"Red, long, silky." I said, a mental picture of Mel comes to mind,

"For you?" She asks, and I scrunch my face up.

"For her." I motioned to Mel, who was now in her regular clothes, talking on the phone.

The lady smiled. "Yeah, come."

"I have to go now, Dad's home. I don't have time to try it on . . But I'll keep it on tabs." Mel grabbed her skateboard she insisted on bringing inside, and ran out the door.

"I'll take you, your house is only, like, two blocks away from mine." I said after her.

"Okay." She smiled warmly, and we headed to my car. "Aw.. A puppy." She points to a cardboard box painted Free Pups

"Get one. They're cute." I shrugged.

"Oh no. Dad would kill me." She gawked at the ball of fur. "I'm moving out on my birthday . . Only two months." She sighed.

Lightbulb.

"Joint custody?" I suggested. She looked at me confused. "Like, I have him a week, you a week. My parents used to do that with me, and it worked out well I guess." I told her. "I'll keep him at my place for a couple months, then I'll give him to you. But I'll probably get attached. So, I might fight for custody." I winked.

She laughed, and shook her head. "I couldn't ask you to." She noted.

"I want to." I went, and picked up a scruffy puppy. "This one?" I looked the awe in her eyes for the puppy.

"He's perfect." She looked at me, then him.

"I'll see you and Max." Melody kissed the puppy's nose, and then turned to me. "Thanks Justin." She smiled lightly at me, her cheeks red.

I shrugged. "What are friends for?" I asked grinning back at her.

She kissed my cheek, and said bye to the puppy once again. "You're a good friend." She shut the car door, and I watched her walk into her house before zooming off. It was already six at night, and getting dark.

And for a friend, I reaaaalllly wanted to see her in that dress.

I bit my lip, and arrived at home.
