Justin

You know, the funny thing about Melody Cruz is, she affects you in ways you'd never imagine. Making you forget plans you'd been planning for months in an hour. With a blink of those pouty blue eyes, she could make the world bow down.

Or maybe it's just me.

By the time I got to the resturant, I realized I should probably at least try to stop thinking about her. I could get into real trouble with myself if I kept letting my imagination run away with me.

I walked in to meet Chaz, who was really excited for the night ahead. I wrote my name, in messy scrawl that even Melody said I needed to work on. And hers is . . really bad. I chuckle at the thought, then realize again I'm thinking about her.

I sit down at a table, as the guiys are meant to do, and a booming male voice spoeaks; "Welcome, Speed daters!" He yells, and Chaz gives me a thumbs up from across the room.

I grin back at him, and get ready. "If the ladies will sit, you get ten minutes and your card is down there, record, and tell what you think! Time starts now." The males voice is inturrupted with a ringing of a bell.

A girl immeadiately sits across from me.

She blushes as I smile politely at her.

Mel blushes around me a lot.

Her hair is dyed to match Farah's hair color, and she had green eyes. The name tag on her flat chest reads Angela.

She smiles back, and I take her hand, placing a kiss on her knuckles. "Hey, Angela." I say lowly, and her cheeks redden, which I really didn't believe was possible.

"Hello, Justin. Nice too meet you." She giggles, and flips her long blonde hair.

"And I you." I say, and release her hand.

It's awkward, and I constantly try to bring up subjects. And everytime she answers. I beg for time to go faster with every word.

The bell rings, and the guys voice booms "Time!"

"Aw darn!" I say sarcasticallty, with a fake frown.

"I think we really connected, hears my number." She writes down, and moves.

After the little date, we have two minutes to write what we think of the person. I take out my iPhone, and text Chaz.

To: ChazzyBoo:

If they're all gonna be like this . . I'm most likely going to leave.

I put it away, and gaze at the new girl in front of me.

She's cute, but as soon as she opens her mouth, I'm done for.

"I'm Hope." She speaks blankly, like she has no intrest in what's going on.

"Justin." I grin fakely, and she rolls her eyes.

She burries her head in her hands, and begins to cry.

My smile falls, and I panic, what did I do?

People look at us, like I beat her, and even Chaz, who looks very into the girl across from him turns to look.

"Uh, don't cry . ." I reach out to touch her hand, and she breaks down completely.

"Sorry, sorry." She apologizes to the whole place, and wipes her tears, smiling. "My five year boyfriend just cheated on me, and I came here with my best friend Maggie . . I just - It's hard, he was so great." I nod, and really don't say anything more.

Date #2:  Hope.

Thoughts:

Needs medical treatment.

Rate:

Negative thirty two.

I shake my head, and stand up.

Bieber is done for the night.

Chaz reluctantly says goodbye to the pretty redhead, he's talking to, and kisses her cheek... It was the first girl he talked to, and I weakly smiled. At least someone got a good date.

They exchanged phonenumbers, and then he walks over to me.

"Bad dates, or..?" He chuckles and grins.

I nod, and blow rasberries. "Who was that?" I ask, and he grins.

"Maggie. Her friend just broke up with her boyfriend. Helen, or something. Says you guys would be good together." He says, and starts texting someone. Most likely Maggie.

"Hope?" I ask, and he points at me with a nod. "You met her?" He asks, "Whatcha think?"

I hand him the dating card, and he looks at her name.

"Needs medical treatment, aye?" He reads, and I sigh.

"Yuppers."

"Lets go, I gotta swing by Melody Cruz's house." I say, and he cocks an eyebrow at me.

"I'm tutoring her in Chemistry, and I forgot my book." I say, and he nods.

"Dude, I can't believe Sam asked her to The Last Dance. Never knew he liked her." He says, and I halt from our walk.

What?

"Huh?" I ask bewildered. "He asked her . .? Are we talking about the same Mel? Decorating committee? Chess team? Gym class Melody?" I freak, and he looks a little shocked.

"So there is something between you two! The whole school's talking about how you guys seem to be close. Real close." He exclaims, and I furrow my eyebrows.

"Theres nothing between us!" I clairify, and he looks like he doesn't believe me. I groan, and slap my hand to my forehead.

"You like her?" Chaz asks, and it's not the easiest question I had to answer that night.

"Pshh. No." I try to brush off the feeling in my stomach.

She didn't tell me he asked her to the dance.

"Did she say yes?" I try to change the subject, and I mentally slap myself.

No shit. She likes him.

I roll my eyes at myself, and he shrugs.

"Um, Yea. She said she wasn't planning on bringing a date, but he was so sweet."

"When?"

He shrugs his shoulders. "I dunno, bro."

I sigh, and get into the car. "I'll meet you at your place" I say,. and he nods, getting into his car, and driving away.

I don't like Mel.

I don't like Mel.

I don't like Mel.

Mamuel?

Selody?

Their names don't even go together.

Not like I care anyway.

Oh no, I'm in trouble.
