Into the Dark : Shadows

Chapter 4

The wind that blew in her hair had suddenly become light. She felt like she wasn't falling anymore, like she was floating in the clouds. She opened her eyes expecting to be welcomed by angels. But to her uttermost surprise, she was lying in the arms of someone very familiar...Silas Griffin.
' What do you think you're doing? ' he asked.
' huh? ' she asked confused.
' Were you trying to kill yourself? ' he asked as he assisted her on her feet.
' No. why will I do that? '
' you just jumped from the top of this building '. Then she realized that was what Caroline told her to do and she didn't resist.
' it was Caroline. She told me to jump and I jumped. I don't know why or understand why I didn't resist...I just couldn't ' she explained.
' Silas ' someone called as Silas and Betty turned to see who it was. It was Bella.
' board meeting now ' she said ' and you Elizabeth... '
' yes ' replied Betty quickly.
' you're not meant to be here anymore '
' yes I Was just leaving '
' hurry up once it's midnight the gates get shut ' Bella advised.
' Thank you ' Betty said and picked to her heels. As she ran, her medallion fell from her hand.  She didn't notice until she had reached the gate.
' Ma'am you've got to go ' said a guard.
' please I need to get something it's very important ' she pleaded.
' you have fifteen minutes to leave. Once we close the gate, it won't be opened until tomorrow morning and by then it'll be too late to leave. '
' you don't understand. What I forgot is very important to me '
' suit yourself ' he finally agreed as she struggled to find her way back. Everywhere was dark. The only source of light was the moon. These strigois loved darkness.
Lucky for her, she located where it fell. But as soon as she picked it and turned to leave, the clock struck midnight. She heard loud cries of joy coming from the dormitory. That was bad.
' great, now the entire school wanna have me for dessert ' she said and ran into a nearby maze. But unknown to her, Caroline and a bandit of six had seen her enter the maze and they followed her quietly. The night had become a night for a wild hunt. But Betty supposed she could make it a goose chase.
She came to a stop in front of a wooden door. She looked behind to make sure no one followed her, then she took a step closer to the door and knocked on it twice. The door screeched open and before her was a dark room. She took two baby steps forward and walked into the room.
Suddenly, the door shut close. Now she was in total darkness and was freaking out.
Suddenly, the torches lit up and everywhere was brightened.
Suddenly, she screamed. Caroline and her bandits heard it and quickly followed the sound. In the room were the skulls, heads, skeletons of men and women.
' Thought I heard someone yell ' a familiar female voice said as Betty turned to see who it was.
' Caroline '
' hello Betty '
' what do you want with me? ' she asked noticing the six other students.
' isn't it obvious, what I want is what I've always wanted the very first day you came here... Actually that's today ' Caroline said as she stepped closer and closer to Betty. ' I promise you cooperate with me and you won't end up like your bony friends ' she continued.
' I don't want to be a vampire neither do I want to be your slave ' Betty protested.
Immediately they grabbed her as she struggled to free herself. Caroline brought her canines as she ran her fingers on the neck vein of Betty.
About to strike, someone grabbed her by the neck and threw her to the wall. He ran to two of the students holding Betty and smashed their heads against the wall. Two other students attacked as he maneuvered their attacks and snapped their necks.
Everything happened very quickly for Betty. One minute the six were on the Floor. Two knocked out and the rest holding an aching part of their body. Left standing face to face was Caroline and Silas staring each other dead in the eyes.
' Silas what do you think you're doing?, you're defiling the laws ' Caroline said.
' This is my quarters and as far as I'm concerned, what happens here...I decide ' He said and charged at her.
