Chapter 5

She charged at him also, but he was faster. He caught her hand and flipped her over his shoulder as she slammed her back on the floor. She rolled over and stood up.
Just then, Silas pulled out a pocket silver knife and pointed it to her neck.
Then he said ' you move, you die...you choose '
Slowly, she withdrew her canines and her contoured face became normal.
' good choice, now leave ' he ordered.
' I'll get you next time Betty ' she said as she eyed Betty and walked to the exit door.
' and take your bandit of six with you ' he added as they stood up still holding their aching parts and helped to carry out the other two that were out Cold.
Minutes after they had left, Betty said ' thank you for saving my life...again '
' Why didn't leave? ' he asked
' I just wanted to get this ' she replied showing him the medallion. ' it was given to me by father, I couldn't afford to loose it ' she added.
Silas was quiet for a while then asked ' are you hungry? '
' yes, yes, yes I'm starving ' she replied holding her stomach.
' you sound so excited, what makes you think I have human food? ' he asked
' right...vampire ' She said remembering where she was.
' Don't worry, just follow me ' he said and walked away as she followed.
They walked down a fleet of stairs and took a left turn. Betty looked behind and saw there was another path leading right.
' where does that lead? ' she asked.
' to the quarters of the jury and authorities ' he replied.
Finally, they got to a door. Silas brought out a bunch keys and took only silver key as he placed it in the lock. The door opened and they both entered. His room was enormous. It was about the size of the combination of three to four students room. So about sixteen bunks could fit in it. Aside from everything she saw in the student room, there was a fire place in his room and also a freezer.
He walked to the freezer, opened it and brought a bottle of red liquid and a plastic plate filled with fruit salad as he handed it over to her.
' you know I don't drink blood right? ' she said as she handed the bottle back to him.
' not everything in here is blood ' he replied.
She took off the bottle cap and had a little taste. True to his words, it wasn't blood. It tasted like juice... Pops.
' sorry that might not be a balanced meal compared to what you ate at home, but it's something ' he apologized.
' no it's alright, at least I have something to eat that isn't blood for the first time today ' she said and they both giggled.
' can I ask you something? ' Silas asked.
' yes you can ' she replied.
' how did you find this place?...i mean this academy '
' don't know, can't really remember what happened. All I remember was that there was a beast chasing me and a man wearing black kinda saved me. Next I woke up in front of the gate of this place. ' she said and put some watermelon in her mouth and gulped down the pops.
' it's funny ' she said.
' what's funny? ' he asked.
' first you try to feed me to your vampire friends, next you save me them and now you feed me with human food ' she said ' so ironic don't think? '
' yes probably ' he replied ' eat quickly and get some sleep ' .
He walked to large wardrobe and opened it. He brought out a small mattress. He took a pillow from his bed which Betty sat on to eat. He placed the mattress on the floor and fell on it as he placed his head on the pillow.
Then he sat up, pulled of shirt revealing his muscular body structure.
' where am I sleeping? ' Betty asked.
' there ' he said pointing to the bed she sat on ' good night ' he said and placed his head on the pillow and closed his eyes. Before Betty could blink twice he was fast asleep.
' wow, you vampires really love sleep...good night ' she said and took last gulp of her pop. She walked to the fridge, placed the empty bottle and plate and burped a little loud.
' oops ' she whispered and covered her mouth as she walked silently and slipped underneath the bed cover as she wrapped herself around pillow and drifted away in thoughts.
