Chapter 1

Rainforest, eastern Escovia,
February 13, 2013,
The Strigoi academy,
'what's your name kid?' a Man of well built structure in his mid_forties wearing a black suit and a red tie asked.
' Elizabeth... Elizabeth Hackerman sir' replied a blonde girl between age 17 and 18 years. She looked beaten and battered.
' how old are you?' he asked.
' 18 sir ' she replied.
The man bent over and wrote something into a long book page, then he placed it in a file.
' immediately you walk out the door, you'll see a lady. She'll lead you to your room and help you with preparations ' he said.
' Thank you sir ' she replied as she stood up and left.
As she stepped out, she met a girl about her age. She was few inches shorter than Elizabeth and was a brunette.
' Hi, you must be the new girl. I'm Elena. ' she said with a British accent and stretched forth her hand for a shake.
' Nice to meet you, I'm Elizabeth but you can call me Betty. ' she replied and returned the hand shake.
' I'm sure Mr James told you I'll be your tour guide ' Elena asked.
' Mr James?... Tour guide? ' asked Betty confused.
' The man you just finished speaking with, that's Mr James. Didn't he tell you about the tour? ' Elena asked.
' He didn't say anything about a tour. He just told me you'll help me with preparations. '
' Alright then,... If that's the case, follow me. ' Elena instructed as they both walked.
As they passed different hallways, Betty couldn't help but marvel at the beautiful structures.
Soon they came out of the building Betty supposed to be the administrative building. They walked through a path between two gardens. Each had a water fountain at the centre.
Finally, they approached a building guarded by two gargoyles.
' hideous creatures ' Betty whispered.
' what was that? ' Elena asked pretending not to have heard.
' uh...nothing ' she lied.
They entered into a hallway with gargoyles lined up on each side of the hall facing each other like a show down was about to take place. On the walls were pictures of men and women dressed like Dracula.
' who are these people? ' Betty asked.
' just a bunch of nobodies ' Elena replied.
They made a turn to the left and went into an elevator.
' so where are we going now? ' Betty asked.
' to your room ' Elena replied.
'up it is then '
Elena pushed two buttons then replied ' no...down '
Betty felt the elevator shake as it went down. She watched the number on the panel countdown as it stopped at minus two.
The door opened and they both stepped out.
All Betty could see and hear, we're the doors opening and slamming shut.
' welcome to the strogoi's dormitory ' Elena said as they walked through the passage.
' strigoi, what's that? ' Betty asked as a little boy dashed between the girls.
' what?,,.hey Mikey no running!. Don't you know this place, strigoi academy? '
' I don't know what a strigoi is '
' seriously you don't? '
' nope '
' never heard of a striogi vampire? '
' vampire, yes...strigoi, no '
' well we are vampires only difference is that unlike the popular vampires we can't be killed with wood. It's silver like wolfs '
Did Betty hear her right?..."we are vampires... "
They walked to the second to the last room on the left as Elena knocked on the door.
' why is everywhere noisy?, is it usually like this? '
' nope, we just woke up from our 24 hours nap '
Soon, the door opened and standing at the entrance was a blue_eyed, brown hair boy.
' hey Paul, brought a guest '
' who is it? ' Paul asked
' a newbie her name's Betty '
' any strigoi is our friend ' he said and widely opened the door. In the room were two bunk beds and four dressing tables and a large wardrobe.
Aside Paul were two other people, a boy and a girl. It was a mixed dormitory.
' hi everyone ' Betty said with a shiver in her voice.
' hi ' replied the boy and girl simultaneously.
' Hi ' said Paul ' you must be Betty? '
' yes '
' I'm Paul '
' Nice to meet you Paul '
'I'm Oscar ' introduced the other boy. He had black hair with a curl strand across his forehead.
' and I'm Caroline ' introduced the girl. She was blonde and had sparkling blue eyes and she was about the same height as Betty.
' if you need anything Betty, don't hesitate to ask me. I'm in the room directly opposite you. ' Elena said and left.
' Thank you. ' Betty replied.
Betty only had a white gown on. It was torn around the hem and part of her lap was exposed. She as well had no shoes on.
' you can sleep beneath me ' Caroline said and climbed her bed.
Betty noticed that their warm welcome had suddenly become cold. She didn't understand why, but she had a bad feeling about this place.
Suddenly, someone yelled ' professor Howard is coming! ' as everyone fled into their rooms.
Immediately, Paul and Oscar jumped on their beds. Only Betty was standing.
Howard was their teacher and he was known to be a very strict strigoi. He was in charge the squad selected by the school's board to battle the morois every night. He also taught the strigoi all forms of martial art.
The room door opened as he stepped in breathing furiously.
' why aren't you in bed? ' he asked with a frown on his face.
' uh... I just arrived, I'm new her sir... My name is... '
' what's that smell? ' he asked interrupting her.
' what sir? '
' smells human ' he said sniffing hard.
Betty was confused but remained silent. ' anyways get into bed, you'll soon have dinner ' he said and left using his vampire speed. Betty's mouth dropped in awe, she had never one move that fast.
An hour later, a bell rang. It wasn't a small bell because the sound was loud and strong.
' it's lunch time ' Oscar said
' you mean dinner ' Caroline corrected.
' lunch, dinner... Whatever, it's time to eat ' Paul said as they all put on their uniforms very fast. They were to fast for Betty to notice them undress.
' see you at the hall Betty ' Caroline said as they all left.
Immediately they were gone, Betty sat down on the nearest bed, thinking of what to do.
Just then, the door opened...it was Elena.
' Betty, why aren't you dressed?. It's time for dinner...they're serving Popsicle,..meant blood sicle.' she said in a jolly voice.
'blood_sicle? '
' why?... Sounds like you've never had one. '
' I don't even know what that is. '
' can't explain but I'm sure when you taste it you're gonna love it.'
' I hope so. '
' in the mean time... ' she said and opened the wardrobe as she brought out a black Mini flair skirt, white shirt, a grey sweater, a pair of black stockings and a pair of black flat shoes.
' quickly get dressed. I'll be waiting outside ' Elena said and left as Betty sighed and looked at the uniform placed on the bed.
