Chapter 19 : Pocket Watch | Intruder?

"I sure hope it's nobody I've met before.."

"Is there a problem?" Nayoung looked at Yugyeom.

"Lisa was a princess of the Western Kingdom, there in no way they'll believe that she was spirited away. Instead, I'll just have to say her whereabouts are unknown and that she went mad after stabbing Jungkook."

"If they think we're lying, there'll be a problem. It's bad luck that we have to meet with them now, while all this is going on."

"I see." Nayoung nodded.

"By the way, I thought you aren't talking to me?" Yugyeom asked her.

Nayoung gasped, "I am merely speaking when it is essential to do so! From now on, I shall return to silence."

"I knew it..." Yugyeom said, didn't know how to respond to stuff like this.

"I see. So you're traveling in search of a princess who came from the sea." said the former fellow mermaid elegantly.

"Yes, so as a former mermaid...." Nayoung said carefully.

"Pardon me for not introducing myself earlier. I am Sim Cheong. I now rule this territory in place of my departed husband." She gave a sweet smile to them.

The former fellow mermaid stand up and went for something at her cupboard and then returned back to join Yugyeom and Nayoung.

"As for the item the witch sent you in search of, it probably this." She then handed the watch to Yugyeom.

"A watch?" Yugyeom turned the clock upside down to inspect it.

""I don't really understand what it's for, so it doesn't bother me if you take it." She lifted her cup of tea and took a sip of it, "I'll be leaving this place soon, so there's no point keeping too many things, right?" She then stared at the cup.

"Huh?" Both Nayoung and Yugyeom were puzzled.

"To be honest... I have come to regret becoming a human. My husband were too good a person, he wasn't suited to rule any territory. A number of malicious people took advantage of him. Here at the end of it all, it seems even this land will be taken... I would no longer be ruler." She took another sip and placed the cup on the table.

"Life in this human world can be very harsh and full of troubles. To make things worse, my husband became ill and died. I have become full of regret." Her pool of tears started to form. "If I had understood that I would felt this way, I would have preferred to know nothing, and always think the surface as a beautiful, distance place."

"To know nothing..." Nayoung whispered, "Ah.. I see...."

"Mistress! It's terrible! The first prince carriage is coming this way!"

"Mark is coming?!" Yugyeom was startled.

"Who is Mark?" Nayoung asked

"The eldest prince of the Western Kingdom. It would be best for you to leave." said Cheong as she stand up.

"Now, please go." She ushered them out.

"Thank you for your assistance, ma'am." Yugyeom thanked her.

*click* sound of the door closed heard after Yugyeom and Nayoung went out from the room.

Cheong stared at the portrait of her husband and her. A trail of tear escaped from the corner of her eyes.

"That was close." Yugyeom let out a glad sigh, "That guy don't exactly get along with me." Yugyeom rubbed his neck.

"What's wrong Nayoung?" Yugyeom asked as he saw Nayoung was silent for a long time.

"I finally understand the origin of this feeling." Nayoung shook her head, "No. The cause of this unpleasant pain in my heart."

Yugyeom couldn't catch any of it, he was puzzled.

"I..." Nayoung said, "am jealous."

Yugyeom was dumbfounded.

"I'm embarrassed to have such narrow minded, greedy feeling. I have become too emotional."

"It's not as though you ever said that you'd be only be with me... And I'm sure that once our journey is over, you'll... leave...." Nayoung was depressed.

She then continued, "I've never known such unpleasantness, it's exactly as she said. I felt the same way. But at the same time, whenever I'm with you, my heart beats quickly and I feel safe."

"Yugyeom, will you keep traveling with me, even as I am? I promise I will not bother you..." Her face were red and her heartbeats fast.

Yugyeom patted her head, "I'm sorry."

He then continued with a small smile, "Because of me, you've been thinking this way...."

Yugyeom cupped her cheek and come close to her, "I'm the same. Ever since I met you."

Nayoung grinned at that and Yugyeom kissed her.

"How dare that witch meddling with my story!" V clenched his fist. "I have to visit Jungkook now." He then flied.
