"Lui...Wh-Why...Would you..." He pulled away and put his face in his hands. "I don't know...I just..." Aiden opened his door, "Here ya' go!" He handed Lui a bright red pin. "...Thanks, buddy.." I could see the guilt on his face, I felt it too, "Let's...Uh... go in, shall we?" I got out and they both followed. Aiden had no idea what was going on, he thought we were still mad at one another. "Aiden, How about you go over to the sitting area and watch TV." Lui suggested , Aiden's face lit up, he liked the idea. He scampered away. I went into the Ice-room, (The room where we keep the freezers, fridges and other things,) Lui followed me in and grabbed my hand to get my attention, "Elena, I'm so sorry, I just wasn't thinking." We stared at each other, "It's fine," I said smiling, he smiled back, I could hear Aiden's little feet running into my work station, "Mommy! I can't find the remote!!" He yelled. Lui let go of my hand, "I'll help him, you get started." They walked out together, and went into the sitting-area. I washed my hands. My work station was not that far from the sitting-area, so I could hear the two of them talking, "Do you think my mom's pretty?" Aiden asked, sounding older than two. Lui paused for a moment "Beautiful-No, gorgeous."
A good five minutes later, Lui came back, "We found it, someone had put it on the book shelf. The dummy." He washed his hands, and got me everything I needed and we got started. I have that the rest of the work day was silent. And the only thing that made it even more awkward, was the fact that we both knew why we were so silent. By ten-o'-clock, the food we had eaten earlier, had worn off. Aiden had actually come into my station and ask for a snack, I always had gold fish or something of the sort in my purse.
We got done with the last order and went into the sitting-area to meet Aiden. He was asleep on the couch facing the TV, some cartoon was on and the remote was under him. "Poo guy..." Lui commented as he picked him up, "Yeah I feel the same, though." I added. Lui handed me Aiden who was now slightly awake, and trying to mumble something, "Can...We...eat now?" He wiped his eyes. Lui and I looked at each other. "Sure," Aiden turned to Lui, "You comin'?" To both of our surprise. "Uh...I need to head home, buddy..." Aiden stared at him, hoping for his answer to change. "But I guess I can go!..." Aiden smiled.
