"I love you, too..." He gripped me tighter, as if he had been waiting for me to say that for years. He had. Our hug ended and he stared at me. "For ever, and always." He whispered.
••••••••••••

"So, we're going out with Levi and Shaniqua again?" I asked Lui through the phone resting on my shoulder. "Yeah, they said this time we're going to a 'fancier' restaurant, no singing." He explained.
"Thank goodness," I said as we shared a laugh. "Can I invite a friend I made? Do you think that would be okay with them?"
A small silence, "Y-you made a...friend?" He asked sounding like he was shocked that other people actually enjoyed me. "Yeah a costumer came in and we hit it off, he was really nice. His name's Donovan."
"Oh..."
"And guess who his sister is? Trisha!"
"What!? You've got to be joking kidding me!"
"So, I should invite him?"
"...Sure,why not?"
I could tell me being friends with another person of the male sex was bothering him. After what happened yesterday, I really don't blame him. Clearly he thinks of me of a girl friend rather than a best friend.
But I'm not sure I'm there yet.
"Alrighty, I need to go get ready, bye." I clicked the phone off. Aiden wobbled in with a picture in his hand, "Mommy, who's this?" He held the picture up. Angelica...
"It's just a friend of mine, sw-sweetie."
"Look! We have the same color eyes!" He studied the picture. "We kind of look alike don't we, Mommy?" My eyes filled with water. "Yes... You do." He looked at me, "What's wrong?" I sniffed.
"Nothing... Oh, hey we're going out to eat with Lui's friends again tonight!"
He smiled wide, "The funny clown lady!?"
•••••••••••••
I got dressed and help Aiden do the same. I heard my phone ring, "Hello?" It's not a familiar number, "Hey is this Elena? It's Donovan."
"Great! I'm so glad that you called, listen me and some friends are going out tonight so,...would-"
"Of course! That sounds great! Where is it?"
"I'll have to ask my friend he's picking me up, maybe he'll get you, too. If that's fine."
"Sounds great," He said warmly. "Should I dress up?"
"Not really, I'm just going to wear leggings and a nice shirt."
"Oh, man that's what I was going to wear!" He laughed.
That laugh was so precious, the joke was corny. But I still laughed.
I'm not falling in love with him...we're just friends.

I heard Lui's car pull up so I grabbed Aiden and got in, "Can we pick up Donovan?" Lui looked at me. "Sure." He said sharply. I felt guilty for actually having another guy friend, Lui's always been the only grown man in my life after Angelica pasted away and Travis ran off.
I read out Donovan's address from his text to him. "That's not all that far from the restaurant, is it?"
"No." Another sharp response.
When we pulled up to his house, we were both blown away. It was a nice Victorian house, with roses and bushes out front. "Woah... He must be loaded!" Lui said, still in awe.
"I don't think this is his house, it doesn't really match him..." But there he was running to the car. "Sorry, sorry, I was brushing my teeth." He said slipping in the back seat. Him and Aiden stared at each other. "Aiden is my...s-son." Donovan met my eyes in the mirror. "Really?...I love kids!!" His voice boomed in the car. Lui cleared his throat, "Is this your house?"
"No, it's my sister's"
"Trisha's?..."
"No, no, my other sister, she's 30. Trisha could never afford a place like this!"
Lui and I looked at each and smirked, "Oh," I said.
"Why didn't you order cupcakes from her?"
"Trisha sucks at baking. I honestly think that the only reason she's keeping her job is because she's sleeping with her boss."
Lui and I spum around in our seats, "You really think so?" He asked.
"Well, yeah! They flirt all the time, and she's always being invited over, or she's inviting him over!" He exclaimed.
"Oh my God!"
"Do you guys think you could help me figure out if she is?"
"You mean...we'll be like spies?" Lui asked. "Yeah, kind of."
We all looked at each other, then at Donovan, "We're in."
"You know the kid can't help, right?" He said as we pulled out of the drive way.
Another corny joke... But I still laughed with him.
