Mickey came through the door that on completely flustered. She was very exited about the week that she just had. Mickey went up the stairs with a skip in her step. She walked through the kitchen and into the family room. Ryan was on the couch playing destiny.
"sup lil bro" Mickey said with a smile.
Ryan looked at her. "um nothing, just trying to beat this guy" He had his tongue stuck out and the controller at arms length.
"uh huh, well I'm going Sophia's catch ya later. Tell dad where I am." She said going out the way she came.
"ya ya, tell dad ok whatever" he mumbled. Mickey rolled her eyes. Maybe it was a better idea to text him herself. Mickey pulled out her phone.
Dad
McKenna: I'm going to sophia's b back before dinner
Dad: ok, text me if you go anywhere else
She put her phone away and walked out the back door to jump the fence that lead to Sophia's apartment building. It was a ten minute walk, she could've driven but needed the exercise even though it was late November. Plus she didn't have a car. As she jumped the fence her scarf got caught on a piece of splintered wood.
"aw man!" she grumbled as jumped trying to unravel it. At this, someone came up behind her and tapped her shoulder.
"need some help?" It was Ian. Mickey jumped.
"oh! um sure." Even though Ian was only a few inches taller, he had very long arms. Ian handed her the scarf. She could see his cheeks getting red. And when his cheeks were red Mickey got uncomfortable and her cheeks started turning red. She had to do something.
"so what are you doing here?" Mickey said.
"oh well I'm visiting my grandma, she isn't feeling her best" of course he was. Mickey thought, that's just the kinda guy he is. She chuckled.
"what?" Ian said a little offended.
"oh nothing just that you are such a nice guy. You look out for everyone." Mickey smiled.
If Ian was red before it was nothing compared to now. You could practically feel the heat radiating from his body. He let out a forced laugh.
"well thank you. I mean, I always help the people I care about." he said. Mickey hummed in agreement.
"and I wanted to thank you for sticking by me while Heather and I are in this big fight. I'm so sorry all you guys got dragged into this" She said shaking her head.
"oh i-its ok" Ian said rubbing the back of his neck.
"well I better get going, my grandma can be a bit over protective, I'll see you later Mickey" He said as he waved to head in the direction he came. Mickey smiled and waved as he left. She started walking in the opposite direction and walked to Sophia's house.
She texted Sophia to meet her by the pool. When Sophia got there she saw Mickey's face and new something good had happened. She ran up to Mickey and almost knocked her over.
"whoa! And a hello to you too!" she said rolling her eyes.
Sophia got up with excitement. "Whatever, Ok I now something just happened your face is flushed! Tell me everything!"
"ok ok! But can we at least go inside I'm freezing." Mickey said running her hands up and down her arms to get warm.
"Oh of course lets go to the party room." Mickey nodded and followed her into the building. Sophia practically dragged her in and they sat down on the couch. Sophia looked at mickey with a type of hunger that scared her a little. She backed up a little and took a deep breath.
