The rest of the day flew by pretty fast. Amber was in her art class so they talked during that. But Mickey felt good. She was happy Amber knew and wanted to tell more people. She was sure Allison had already told all of her gay friends so they wouldn't be a problem. But Mickey wanted to tell her other best friend. Sophia was very important to her and she wanted soph to know. During lunch Mickey pulled Sophia aside.
"I just wanted to tell you that I... I-I um, I l-like boys and g-girls." She closed her eyes took a deep breath and continued.
"I'm bi, bisexual" Sophia just blinked at her.
"oh, ok cool."
She shrugged and went to walk away. But Mickey pulled her back.
"wait! so your not surprised or anything" Mickey still had her arm on her shoulder and just looked at her very confused.
Again, Sophia just shrugged. "well I guess I didn't really expect it, but hun, It doesn't bother me at all" she stared at Mickey.
Mickey let out a breath and hugged her. "thanks soph"
They walked back into the lunch room holding hands. Sophia swung Mickey's hand and she laughed going back to the table where they were sitting at with Amber, Katie, Ian, Mathew and a few of Katie's friends. Cassidy (a different Cassidy) Olive, Sarah and Emily. Mickey knew all these girls so they got along fairly well.
She and Olive had some rocky history that happened the year before but they were fine now. It was mostly an old friend Nickie's fault - she was a friend that moved to a different school this year, but we won't talk about that - so they were all friends.
Ian and Mathew were very uncomfortable so just as Mickey sat down Ian mumbled, "hey we're gona leave and go sit with the guys, too many girls hehe. Hope that's ok."
Mickey nodded and chuckled as Ian and Mathew left. She looked at Katie, she was glaring out the window, what could Katie be mad for? Mickey asked herself.
Little did she know, Katie saw Mickey walk into the lunch room with Sophia holding hands and laughing. She grunted as she picked at her strawberries and turkey. Her mom always packed the same lunch for her every day. Strawberries and turkey with a yogurt, granola bar, fruit snacks, and chocolate milk. She drank the milk as she looked out the window.
Mickey would end up eating Katie's lunch, she always did. Even if they didn't sit at the same table, Mickey would always come over and visit with her other friends, especially Katie, and ended up eating whatever leftovers she had. It was what she did, it was they're thing.
Every day she would come over to they're little corner table in the back of the lunch room and sneak up behind her while Katie sneakily played on her phone so that the teachers wouldn't notice. Sometimes Mickey would play with her hair, other times playing the game with her. but she always sat on the furnace, even if it was cold or extremely hot. The reason she did it was because Katie sat in the same spot everyday and the furnace was right behind where she sat.
Once again Mickey was siting behind Katie on the furnace, "can I play with your hair Katie?"
She was still sipping the milk, "mhm." she said and nodded in approval.
Mickey giggled with excitement. she loved Katie's hair, It was her favorite think about her appearance, closely followed by her freckles which Katie called her face sprinkles. She was wearing her wire round glasses as per usual. She took off the glasses and pulled put the binder in Katie's hair. Thankfully Katie was wearing a pony tail today so it was easier to take out.
she started separating the hair into chunks and started twisting, braiding and swirling Katie's gorgeous strawberry blonde hair. It was so pretty all the time. Mickey wished she had Katie's hair. Katie leaned back into Mickey's lap and closed her eyes while Mickey played with her hair. The girls transported to there own little worlds and totally zoned out, not realizing Sophia and Amber were watching very closely.
The snickered and looked at each other with a "we know who Mickey's crush is and can totally use this against her" look. Amber coughed and Katie sat up, not realizing she had almost fallen asleep in Mickey's lap. She immediately turned a dark shade of red and looked around seeing who had noticed.
Amber and Sophia looked away and started talking about nothing at all. Mickey finally looked down and saw Katie red in the face and Amber and Sophia with big devilish grins on there faces. She huffed and let go of Katie's hair and then jumped down from the furnace. She walked to the other side of the table and pulled Sophia and Amber over in the corner.
"ok what are you guys doing?" She said crossing her arms and looking at them both with evil eyes.
They just stayed calm and Amber said "I could ask you the same question" she grinned as Sophia started laughing.
Mickey was confused. What did she mean?
...
And then it hit her. "wait! what?! n-no"Amber just rolled her eyes
"ya right babe, I've known you forever. I'm gona know when you have a crush" And then she walked away. Sophia was laughing so hard at this point and just followed Amber back to the table.
Mickey was done for, Amber was evil when it came to embarrassing her best friends.
