Chapter Four- Forgetting

I toss and turn all night, not being able to sleep at all. I swing my feet over the side of my bed and walk to my window looking up at the full moon, sending light into my room.

"We clawed, we chained, our heart in vain. We jumped never asking why. We kissed I fell under your spell, a love, no one could deny." I sing softly and continue to gaze out the window. All I can think about is Luke. I don't know why. I thought I was over him, I guess not.

Luke stayed with me through it all. My break downs and drinking problems. He was my first love and I need him back. If I were to tell Ezra about my past it would worse than tonight. Luke stayed. Plus Luke is all I ever talked about wanting. Strong, good ole country boy. Ezra is everything but that.

I run my fingers through my hair and sigh. I need air.

The night air clings to my cheeks as I walk down to the other barn to BlackBerry. I saddle her up and lead her out of the stall. I mount her, kicking her into a canter and heading to the old field on the other side of the woods.

It's been years since I've rode and I've missed it so much. BlackBerry goes faster and faster as we get to the field where all the cows are. I put her into a walk as we get to woods and pet her neck.

"what do you think of Luke?" I ask her and she nods her head happily, making me laugh. "okay, what do you think about Ezra?" she shakes her head and I laugh again. "thanks for the help girl."

We make it to the other field and a huge limp falls off a tree behind us and it scares her making her buck around the field. I try to calm her down but it's no use. She runs to a low limp and my forehead slams into the branch. I feel my back hit the ground and grass molds around my body. Pain runs through my forehead and everything goes black.

The sun comes up and I try to sit up.

"where am I?" I ask myself and try to get up but fall back down from the pain in my head. I close my eyes and slow my breathing.

"we found her!" yells a voice and I feel strong hands touching me. "Liz?" I open my eyes to see a shirtless boy with curly hair and dark brown eyes.

"who are you?" I ask, having no clue who this person is.

"I'm Ian." he explains and I look at him confused. I just close my eyes and I feel him lift me off the ground. My head is still in pain and I can't remember why.

The next thing I know, I'm in the back of a truck and this Ian guy is driving. He reaches back every few minutes to keep me awake and finally we pull into a parking lot. He picks me up again and walks into a huge white building. He explains what happened and some women in ugly outfits take me from him. They set me in a wheelchair, wheeling me to a strange room with a huge machine. I'm put in the machine and some beeping sounds come from around me. The same people take me to a room with a bed up against the back wall. I manage to get in the bed myself.

"hello." one of the ladies says. "I'm Missy." she explains.

"hello. Where am I exactly?" I ask as she puts strange object on the tip of my index finger and puts a needle in the top part of my arm.

"you're in the hospital." she explains, flipping her long red hair over her shoulder and hands me a cup of orange juice. She walks out after I get some answers but she doesn't know much.

Some time passes and my room is full of people I don't recognize.

An old man that says he's my dad, a lady with long black hair maybe in her mid thirties that adds that she's my step mom, a teen holding a baby that says she's my sister and then Ian stands with his arm around her.

" is she okay?" adds another voice at the door. A tall, tan man wearing ripped jeans, an old "let's go fishing!" T-shirt. His brown hair is dirty and muddy. His dark hazel eyes land on me and something comes to mind.

"Luke" I whisper. He steps closer and I lay my hand on the side of his neck, pulling him down to me I connect my lips with his.
