Kevin's P.O.V

She sighed. Her eyes changed colors again. It seems her eyes change based on her mood. or something like that, I thought.

"My Mom, Dad and I went bowling a long time ago. I never bowled, but I always watched them play. I remember how youthful they looked, and their flirtatious laughter." Her face lit up, but sunk back down as she continued.

"After a month or so, everything... Changed. Dad was grumpy, and started yelling and pushing my mom, and she always pleaded and said, 'not in front of the kids.'" Her lip quivered a bit. I scooted closer, putting my arm around her.

"One night, he just snapped. He said something like this. 'one game of bowling. If you win, I'll stay and help you and the kids. but if I win, you'll stop whining for me to stay, and let me leave this shit hole.' my mom agreed, I think. But either way, we did go bowling. I sat in a chair and watched them play. But there was so much tension." She sighed. "Now for the tricky part. don't cry..." She whispered, probably not expecting me to hear.

"My mom won." She sighed. "She looked so happy. I cheered for her. seeing that joy back in my mom made my heart shine." She quivered. I held her tight. She let out a cute little sigh. "My dad walked right over to me and looked me straight in the eyes and said..." A tear fell from her cheek, and she began to cry as she recited the lines, as if they were branded into her head.

"You are the most selfish, worthless human being on the planet. I never loved you. You are a total brat, and on top of it, you can't control your emotions. You are going to ruin everyone you meets lives, just like you and your brother...."

She couldn't finish. She curled up in a ball in my lap and started sobbing.

"just like you and your brother did to me."

She spat, her words like venom, hurting me. Now I was pissed. Lies lies lies lies!

I stood up, looking her straight in the eyes.
