Autumn' s P.O.V
"Hey you..." I said buried in his arm. "What time is it?" I whispered, still hugging his waist.
"8:20" Kevin sighed. "We have to go!" I pulled away and grabbed his arm, pulling him down the hill. "Why?" He questioned. "My brother!" I barked. "Oh shit." He sighed. We climbed into the car and drove home, quickly.
The car ride back was quiet. I kept my eyes on the window, the streetlight illuminating every ten feet that we had passed- I counted. We pulled up to my house- All the lights were on. Great, I thought, another lecture. "Bye." He said, sweetly. "Bye." I ran inside, and kicked off my shoes.
I turned to the living room where I saw my brother. "Did you just climb out of Kevin's car?" He growled. "Yes..." I said softly. "YOU CANT HANG OUT WITH MY FRIENDS." He snapped, his voice layered with anger and jealousy.
My brother wanted to be Kevin. Kevin was popular, and the football captain for drills. Kevin had it all, handsome, deep, and a winning smile. My brother wanted to be his best friend, he wanted to be just like Kevin. He needed a role model in his life,and that is where Kevin came in. I thought about it, and how Thomas just wanted to be seen as cool and clever, standoffish and different, as some kind of simple idea of a better self image. "I'm sorry." I said, filled with sympathy.
"No. You can't hang out with my friends. It's gross. And stupid. ...And so are you." All sympathy gone, I yelled back. "I CAN BE AROUND WHOEVER I WANT. I AM MY OWN PERSON, AND YOU NEED TO STOP BEING AN ASSHOLE FOR NO REASON." I spat, walking into the kitchen. He followed, anger boiling in his head. "You can't flirt with my friends. You can't be my friends friends. And ESPECIALLY CANT DATE MY FRIENDS."
His eyes hit me like daggers. "We are only two years apart." I said blandly, "And I have every right to be friends with anyone I please." I grabbed an apple and bit into it aggressively. I walked up to my room, and slammed the door, thinking about the hill, and Kevin. I checked my phone, and saw a notification from the boy still in his car outside.
"Hey, Is everything okay?"
I replied.
"My brother yelled. Its cool! You don't have to save me this time, aha. And that was fun. We should go again. Night!"
"Alright, just making sure. Goodnight, beautiful."
I threw the phone next to me and smiled. I thought about everything and drifted off to sleep.
