the day of pride march.
— STEPHANIES POV —
It's finally the day of pride. I open my eyes, once again to the Michelle's living room. I've been staying her a few days because to be honest, it just makes me so happy.
I look down at Michelle as she's cuddled in my arms, her forehead pressed against mine as her eyes are tightly shut. I smile down at her beautiful face, combing through her hair delicately to try and wake her up in the most peaceful way.
I cradle her in my arms as she remains sound asleep, feeling her warm breath against my refined jawline. I notice her eyes flutter slightly as she begins to wake up, her eyes immediately drawn to mine.
I hold her head in place and slowly kiss her strawberry smelling lips. Once our lips lose contact, I curl up in a ball beside her, cuddling onto her waist as she stretches out to wake herself up. After stretching her arms out, she lets out a gaping yawn and settles back down beside me, leaning her head and snuggling up to me.
"I can't believe it's our pride walk today." She says weakly, still half asleep.
"I know." I whisper in excitement. "I'm just so scared, what if Toby finds out." I worryingly gasp.
"Steph, he's hundreds of miles away, he can't possibly hurt you, and whatever happens, even if he does happen to find out, I'll have your hand held in mine at all times, I'm not letting him hurt you again." She protectively reassures me, making me fill up, to know that she cares this much about me.
"Thanks Michelle." I gratefully smile, placing my head on her shoulder."Do you think I should come out to my grandma today?" She questions, I feel shocked, wondering how she's so confident in this kind of thing.
"I think you should Michelle." I smile. We watch as Michelle's grandma slowly paces down the stairs, followed by a wagging lily, as she closely supervises like a babysitter.
Michelle strongly stands up, smiling at her grandma. It makes me nervous and shaky, not really knowing how her grandma will react.
"Me-me and s-Steph are dating, b-because we're both gay." She shakily stutters, grabbing my hand tightly. Her grandma stares blankly at her, as we wait for her response, she begins smiling brightly, jogging over to Michelle and hugging her tightly. I begin sighing in relief, as does Michelle. I grin uncontrollably at her reaction. Michelle reaches her arm out to me, pulling me into the hug.
We release ourselves, panicking as we realise there March starts in just over 2 hours. Me and Michelle hurry upstairs to get changed, slipping on our outfits and covering our faces in rainbow face paint. I tie my hair into a messy bun, as Michelle does the same, yet hers is a lot neater.
I take out my phone, opening up my camera and facing it in selfie mode, I hold it up above my head, pouting slightly, as Michelle presses her lips against my cheek. I snap the picture, looking down at it and smiling. I set the picture as both my home screen and lock screen. That picture will stay with me forever.
