— STEPHANIES POV —
The ambulance grinds to a halt as we reach the hospital. Everything is so rushed and almost as soon as the ambulance completely stops, the rear end of the ambulance opens. The paramedics sitting opposite me rush to make their way out out the ambulance. One runs into the hospital to grab a hospital bed.
I'm left sitting with Michelle in the back of the ambulance as she lies still on the stretcher. I can finally see the state she's in, and it's horrific. Black Bruises are covering her Entire face and one of her wrists looks as if it's bent to the side, it looks broken for sure.
I try my best not to hurt any part of her body, but the urge to just cuddle up to her right now and squeeze her as tight as possible is unbearable. Two paramedics come rushing back with a hospital bed. I hop out of the ambulance to allow them to fix Stephanie to the bed.
A female paramedic watches beside me, with a concerned expression flooding her face, it makes me anxious.
"Excuse me, do you think she's going to be okay?" I weakly whisper.
"Honey, it is my job to have to tell you this. Michelle has suffered extreme trauma to the head, meaning she may have brain damage, and a lot of patients with head traumas go into comas, and, I'm sure you may know that not everyone makes it out of comas." She truthfully sighs, now I wish I hadn't asked. The thought of her dying. How is it possible if possible to even process? The person you love, the girl in your life who's made everything better for you, who's made you better. She can't just go. It can't happen.
"We're going to have to operate on her wrist, along with an x-ray on her skull to find out the severity of her injuries, we'll know more then. Would you like to come with me whilst you wait?""NO PLEASE, I CANT LEAVE HER." I burst into tears, gazing over at her as she's wheeled away by paramedics. "NO MICHELLE PLEASE." I scream, I can't even think right now.
"It's okay honey." She soothes, seeming to know what to do. "Come with me and we'll calm you down okay?"She closely supervises as she walks me through narrow hallways and into a small enclosed room, with a large sofa and kettle on the side. She sits me down in the corner of the sofa, pouring some tea.
"I'm Mary by the way." She smiles, making me feel a lot more reassured. She hands me the quickly made tea and it warms up my hand soothingly. Mary sits beside me and strokes my back.
"How are you feeling?" She quietly asks.
"A little better, thank you." I weakly smile. "I'm so sorry, I was so scared when you said that before I just went crazy." I sob, blanking out into the distance.
"It's okay, I get it. Seeing someone you love in so much pain is unbearable, and you feel so helpless about it." She sighs, almost reading my thoughts. "I know that because I lost my girlfriend in a car crash and I was working when she came in, so I saw her in a terrible state too." She sniffs.
"I'm so sorry." I symphysis.I lie back against the pillows, attempting to relax myself. I sip on my sweet tea and shut my eyes, hoping more than ever that the girl I love will be okay. I don't know what I'll do if she's not.
