AN: I'm so sorry for not updating, schools been really stressful and I hardly have anytime to think of ideas and such for my story. That's why, I'm writing this! I've written this fanfiction when a few years back, I've made no edit to it, it's typed just how it was back then.

It was another day that Ciel had nothing to do. His parents weren't home since they were on a vacation for a week, Elizabeth wasn't visiting today, and there was a heavy snow storm outside. Staying in his bedroom, Ciel was lying on his bed, daydreaming. The only reason he wasn't with his parents was because they would mostly ignore him, so they left him to stay at the manor with Tanaka to look after. The old butler was the only one who would pay him any attention when he needed it.

Though the lack of attention was something he was growing used to, yet he knew it wasn't how parents were supposed to treat their children. He knew this by reading. Whenever he didn't have a day with his cousin, Ciel would be found reading book after book in the mansion's library. However, today he didn't feel like reading anything. Not today. Not on his birthday.

Ciel was ten years old now, but he knew that his parents didn't care or had even known what age he was. He looked at the snow hitting the window and quickly disappearing as fast as they had showed up.

I wonder...I could just run away, he thought. Just run and never look back. ...Idiot, I would die in that storm.

His father's dog, Sebastian, poked his head out of the door to Ciel's room. Whining. "What is it, boy," Ciel asked sweetly. The hunting dog was another person...well...residence who paid attention to the young boy. The black, loyal canine had been with Ciel ever since he could remember and his parents had never seemed to separate the two. In turn, the dog had either ignored or ran away from his parents, only excepting their presence if Ciel was with them. However, during the past few days, Sebastian had become even more clingy to Ciel then ever.

Sebastian didn't bark, instead continued to whine as he slipped in the room and jumping onto the bed with the boy. Using his snout, he pushed the boy's hand under his nose, encouraging him to pet the dog.

"Good boy," Ciel whispered, stroking Sebastian's silky furred head. He soon stopped whining and just stared at the boy with his unique colored eyes. Wine red. No one seemed to notice but Ciel had, and he figured it showed how special his companion was.

There was a moment of comfortable silence between the two before it was shattered by drumming thunder from outside. It startled Ciel and he pulled Sebatsian close to him for reassurance. The canine merely nuzzled his wet nose into his neck, knowing that the storm scared the small human.

"I wish mother and father were here," Ciel whispered, the words slipping from his lips before he could think of them. "That way, I won't be alone."

Another burst of thunder sounded, causing the young boy to flinch. He clutched tighter on the dog.

"You are not alone, my dear young master," a voice soothed out, warm breath brushing over Ciel's ear.

The boy immediately shot upwards, covering one hand on his ear as he supported himself with the other. "Hello, whose there," he asked, looking around his room. Soon, he faced the black dog. "Was it you, Sebastian?"

The dog merely nuzzled into Ciel's hand once more, wanting more affection. He settled back down on the mattress, petting his companion. "I guess it was just my imagined it, huh," he mumbled. Two more bursts of thunder sounded, followed by flashes of lightning.

It was then that he finally cracked, Ciel dropped his face onto the sheets to hide. He curled into a ball, letting thick tears rush down his cheeks. The loneliness, those hateful word that were spat at him, and the pure sadness finally broke whatever barrier kept all his burried feelings under lock and key.

Sebastian rubbed up against him, setting his head on his shoulder. "Young master, why are you crying? Are you unhappy," the mysterious voice asked.

Ciel didn't bother to look around for the source of the voice for he simply didn't care anymore.

"I-I'm scared...I w-want someone. To t-trust...t-to be at m-my side," he sobbed, choking on his tears.

The weight of the dog's head vanished, being replaced by a large, warm hand. "You can trust me, young master, can't you? I won't ever leave your side." The hand moved lower, gently wiping Ciel's tears away.

The young boy looked up, only to see a pure black figure facing back at him with glowing crimson eyes. "W-Who are you," he asked, his voice weak and shaky.

The figure was silent for a moment, eyes calculative and hesitant. "...That does not matter right now. I am here for you, the thunder will not harm you, young master."

Ciel didn't seem to be worried when he was refused an answer, he just crawled into the figure's lap and snuggled up against the being's warmth. If Ciel was any other normal child, he would most likely start running out of the room screaming, but he was anything but. He was a little ten-year-old boy who was not only scared of the storm but also hungry for attention from anyone and anything. And if this stranger, dangerous or not, was going to give him that then Ciel would happily except it.

The figure itself was utterly stunned by this, however it worked hard not to show it. The stranger expected to be questioned, stared at in horror or even pushed away. Taking a silent breath, it wrapped long, strong arms around Ciel and leaned down to the boy's ear.

"Young master, I have a favor to ask."

There was a moment before he nodded, showing that he was listening.

"Please, do not tell a soul that you have met me. Can you do that?"

Ciel lifted his head, dry tears obvious on his face. "Yes, but why can't I?"

"Because, bad things would happen. You don't want for me to go away, do you?"

Ciel flinched at the answer, shaking his head as he hugged the figure tightly, burying his face in its hard stomach. "No, I don't want that to happen. Not at all." He snuggled more into the grip of the stranger as if it was his life line. "I don't."

It could already feel more tears start to surface as sobs began to escape from the boy.

"Sshh...sshh...it's alright, young master," it reassured him, hugging him tighter but not enough to let him feel its claws. "As long as I'm here, you won't be harmed. Nor will I leave you."
