A second.
Two seconds.
Three...
The pain did not come.
Ciel opened his eyes, gasping when a drop of blood met his cheek.
Above him, the man's arms were dropped to his sides. A gloved hand reaching out of his chest and swiftly darting away, leaving the body to fall to the ground with a thud.
"I deeply apologize for being late, young master."
A pale face then came into view, framed by ink black hair as he was met with scarlet eyes.
"Se...ba....tain." Ciel's voice was hoarse and broken, screaming having made his lungs weak.
The demon picked up the boy, feeling how thin he was just by the way he limply rested against his chest. He wrapped his thick, black coat around the small body, being as delicate as possible.
Ciel weakly gripped onto Sebastian's coat, desperate to become warm.
"Who are you," a cloaked woman screeched, gripping onto a dagger.
Sebastian's head jerked to face her, his human disguise loosening. The demon's eyes multiplied, his butler attore dissolved, and dark smoke began surrounding him and Ciel.
The boy didn't seem to notice the change, for he had fallen asleep within moments.
"...You dare hurt him."
Dark tendrils shot from the smokey mass, taking holding of the humans in the building.
Screams echoed in the darkness, ending in sickening cracks. Others' had no time to scream as their limbs were severed before their head followed. However most were quickly split open, dissected, and then set aflame with the torches that the demon sparred.
The demon calmly walked out of the building, allowing for the flames to spread until completely becoming engulfed in heat.
He stayed on the flat plain around the facility, soon sitting down. The demon returned to his human form, once again being extremely gentle when placing Ciel in his lap.
The boy slightly squirmed but stilled not long after, his aching body finally relaxing for once.
Sebastian took this moment to look Ciel over, his hand acting as a pillow for his head.
Ciel's hair had grown an inch or two longer, harsh burns and scratches around his neck as there was a cut on his left cheek. The cut was infected clearly, the skin around it purple as the scab itself seemed to rot. The demon growled lowly at the damage done only to his face. The sound didn't even stir the boy, relieving Sebastian to not being awakened.
But the over all view of the boy had the demon on edge. Ciel looked so different from the last time he'd seen him. So much thinner with much more wounds than even his father would give. It angered Sebastian to no end, not at the condition alone, but from the unknown feeling. Something curling tightly in the center of his chest, something uneasy.
That's when he caught the scent. The same soured, rotten smell settling in the air all too quickly. He was quick in picking up Ciel once more, darting to the side before a singular sword stabbed into the ground where the two were moments ago.
"Damn demon...," The male angel cursed under his breath, narrowing his lavender eyes with disgust. "Just when I thought this would all be over."
The female darted from above, swooping low like a white dove. Sebastian ducked low, keeping Ciel close. He couldn't fight them, not here and not now. Not when the boy was in such fragile state.
As the two dart together in sink, Sebastian darted backwards, getting closer to the flames. Burning away at the gloves, the flames grew stronger, burning greater as they bent and wined everywhere but near Sebastian.
Angels back away, fearing to be burnt. The demon smirked at that, taking a breath of the flames before darting back away from them. He sprinted towards them, exhaling heated flares.
The two were quick to back away, the outstretching fire licking the front of their bodies. Sebastian took that moment to run the opposite direction, not looking back to make sure he was followed. Ciel was already growing coolder by the lack of warmth, he couldn't risk anything else.
