*James Wagligton's P.O.V*
"Are you sure about this, Wag?" Jordan asks me for about the hundredth time. I move apart some grass seeing a rune burnet onto the ground. We are just outside Jason's home, I'm inspecting where Jerome said he found Seto. And I can feel the unstable dark energy around this area, it's giving me a mind-splitting headache.
"Relax, Sparklez. I ain't gonna passed out like Seto." I said. At least I hope not. I hover my hand over the rune etched in the ground, my hand glows dark red as the rune glows black. Huh? Wait this....I put my hand on my head feeling like something just it me in the head with a hammer repeatedly. I groan, alerting Jordan.
"Wag? Wag! What's wrong?!" He asks running towards me. I turn my head seeing more runes enlightened in sort of a circle area on the ground. This whole area is covered in them, a magic circle. Jordan drops to his knees in front of me. My head...It feels like someone just stuffed another brain into my head. I squeeze my eyes shut, gripping my hair.
"I'm getting you away from here." Jordan said suddenly.
"No! No, I'm fine!" I said. I need to see what these runes are, but my head hurts so much that I can't think of anything else.
"No, you aren't. Martha would personally kill me if I let something happen to you." Jordan said. He grabs my arms, helping me stand up on my feet. It's all this dark matter, ancient spells required massive amounts of dark energy, but how could someone get unstable dark matter like this? Jordan sits me down against a tree, my headache starting to go away. Jordan suddenly grabs his sword turning around.
"Who's there?!" He yelled. I open my eyes, I pick my head up slightly seeing Jordan standing in front of me with a sword in his hand. That's when I notice it, the grass...it wasn't dead last time I was here. I turn my head looking over towards Jason's place seeing the beginning of plant life dying too. Leaves on trees are turning brown and falling off, the grass is turning brown and the bushes are turning black. And the trees are starts to rot and I haven't seen an animal since we got here.
"The...The plants, Jordan. Look." I said. Jordan looks around him.
"Whoa, what the hell? This wasn't here last time." He said. Only unstable dark magic can do this, wait..Seto. An overexposure to pure unstable dark matter can cause a wizard to fall into an uncureable magic-induced coma, and it is only uncureable because you must remove what he was exposed to before you can wake up.
"W-Wag. Come here." Jordan said suddenly pulling me out of my thoughts. I pull myself to my feet, walking over to him. My eyes widen seeing carcasses, and they aren't old..they are fresh dead animals. I grab Jordan when he goes to move forward.
"N-No. We need to l-leave." I said. I stumble backwards as my vision blurs suddenly. I groan and hold my head in my hands. I don't feel so good. Jordan grabs my arms, talking to me but I can barely hear what he is saying.
"Wag? Wag!" Jordan yelled before I slip into darkness falling into Jordan's arms.
