One month later
Noah was sitting in his cell counting down the minutes until his life would be ended. He had no regrets. He didn't even mind being killed really. To him it was worth it. Noah also had hopes of seeing Casey in the afterlife. A world where they finally would be free. The more Noah thought about it this way, the more at peace he became. A guard came to take Noah to his execution. Noah stood up without saying a word. What was there to say really? He had nothing to say to any of them. When they reached an area just behind the jail, he saw lines and lines of people. He followed the line up to the beginning to see his fate. There he saw a man hanging from a tree. Noah swallowed hard and tried to think of Casey. His favorite memories with her. The spot where they would sit and talk and eat snacks after a hike. How beautiful her smile was and how he was gonna see it again. Way too soon he was next.
"Step up here!"
A man pointed to a stool. He was quite pushy and aggressive. Not the kind of person Noah wanted to see before he died. The only person he actually wanted to see was Casey and he knew this was the only way it would happen. The man fastened the noose around Noah's neck. Noah took one last deep breath as a single tear fell down his cheek. Then it was all over.
