Faded For Her

A few days later they all somehow ended up in the Fade.... Solas, Cole, Melava, Cassandra and Atisha.... most if not all of the Inquisitors companions "fell through" after fighting at Adamant Fortress against the Wardens after they fell Melava looked around her in worry Solas seemed to be intriguingly enjoying himself, but Cole was afraid as was she.... she could feel the Nightmare within and seeing the Black City no one should be as happy as Solas was to see it so close.... she KNOWS what.... WHO.... lies within.... she wasn't listening to the conversation between Atisha,  Hawke, Alistair and Solas her mind was too busy and too blank to truly do much of anything but when Solas started talking to Cole she stopped listening to the Fade and started listening to Cole hearing the fear in his voice snapped her out of her.... whatever she was in.... "Cole.... how does it feel to be back home?"  Solas asks him "I can't be here not like this not like me!"  Cole stammers backing up in fear Melava's head shoots up at the sound of his voice "Cole!!"  she whispers softly as though just waking up from a dream or possibly a nightmare "it's alright we'll make it right"  Solas tries to calm him reassuringly walking up to him Cole replies "this place is wrong I made myself forget when I made myself real but I know it wasn't like this"  as they continue on Cole says "wrong wrong wrong wringing me out wrought right and rigid can't relax can't release"  Melava slowly walks up to Cole as he speaks "take my hand Cole!"  she says softly reaching out for him he turns and looks at her his fear turns to sadness as he watches her, listens to her and his body starts to calm but his mind is a jumbled mess "we'll be ok!.... as long as we're together.... we're going to be alright!.... comfort, calm, compassion!"  she says softly as she gently grips his hand he looks down at it then back up at her there was no smile on her face or in her eyes he could tell that she was afraid too he didn't want her to be afraid he told himself that he would try to be strong.... for her she needed his strength and he needed hers he looks into her eyes and says "it should be like home it's not this is not me not this part"  his eyes close as she lovingly touches his cheek and whispers softly "I know!.... it's going to be okay Cole!"  he touches the hand she placed on his cheek "you are home!.... you are my home!"  he says and he sees her give him a soft smile and his eyes seem to sigh happily....

Melava only let go of Cole's hand when they met the "Spirit"/Divine she walks away from the group and wanders aimlessly.... "memories.... lost!"  Solas hears her whisper softly as she walks around a small green glowing ball "lethallin!?!"  he asks softly she looks up at him as though just realizing that she wasn't alone.... after a small fight they continue on they hear the voice of the Nightmare say "perhaps I should be afraid facing the most powerful members of the Inquisition"  they hear it laugh then continue "are you afraid Cole? I can help you forget just like you help the other people we're so very much alike you and I"  Melava takes Cole's hand in hers once again he can feel her anger as well as her magic boil and burn as she screams "leave him alone!.... he's NOTHING like you!"  Cole looks at her in shock as the Nightmare laughs....

Though the Nightmare tried to tear down the rest of them he had nothing to say about Melava which they all found strange.... as they continued on fighting the small fears Cole let go of her hand and ran over to an empty part of the Fade screaming "MELAVA NO!!"  he slid onto his knees and reached down sadly everyone looks at him in shock except Melava who slowly walks over to him he started whispering inaudibly about how sorry he was not being able to save her she kneels down beside him and flicks the brim of his hat it flew off his head he looks up at her in shock as she picks it up and places it on top of her own "Melava!?!"  he says in shock she smiles at him he hugs her tightly her eyes widen in surprise as she hugs him back "it's okay Cole.... I'm right here!"  she whispers softly "I love you"  Cole whispers into her ear her body stiffens with shock at the words that came from his lips and tingles her ears and she stands up quickly he stands up with her and they once again continue on.... no one heard what Cole said into her ear and he kept looking over at Melava to make sure what he was seeing because of the Nightmare wasn't real that she is still alive he concentrated on her as well as the fight with the Nightmare and his pet.... she stayed behind to fight the pet so that everyone else came back alive.... Cole stood with Solas on the other side of the rift "once everyone is out close it!.... and don't look back.... no matter what! don't....!"  Cole heard her say to Atisha he wanted to he tried to run back in when he realized she wasn't coming out but Solas held him back even though he wanted to do the same
