I wonder, reader, if you will be surprised that you have been hearing this story told from the point of view of an omniscient god. A god named Serpentine. The serpent-like woman, cunning and dashing in all her ways. That woman is I.
Care for me to explain? Even a simple peasant like you deserves to know what is to become of your mortal world before I inevitably destroy it; along with my barely-forgiving brother.
Hibernation is such a horrible thing. It is like a drug: it rots your insides, though this "drug" was never addicting to me. I hibernated for a reason: I knew the Duplicate was going to be found; I knew Evelyn was to come to the afterlife; I knew of all these things. Why was I not worried, then? Well, I knew a thing or two about the so-called Prophet. My brother betrayed the six gods on the universal council, telling a mortal of the universe we had created. He was too aware.
I am to tell you something you will not believe: Jophiel is a liar. He lied to his Prophet, telling him that I had the audacity to rebel against him! No, the real reason--simply put--is that he lost his privileges of the universe. I became dominant, and without knowing, pushed him into another dimension, lost and hopeless.
Do you not believe me, mortal? Has Jophiel not clearly lied to his Prophet? Of course, there is the chance that I mixed up a word or two in the re-reading of history, but you can trust me. Cue the sinister smile.
Why hibernate? Why hide in the deep abyss of the Temple? It was dark, nice, safe, and big enough to contain my physical being. Hibernation is a way to gain energy for the gods, building it up and taking it from the space-time continuum. This gave us our powers. Though I feel, just as I flutter my eyelids open, that someone has been tampering with my energy fields, but I do not yell or scream. My omniscience tells me who they are, and I plan to get revenge: only three survive, anyhow. Prophet; Lilith; and a stupid girl soldier stuck in the mortal world, forever trapped.
And I must address the silly rumors! The rumors of I wishing to join Lorelei in taking down the universe. Never have I dreamed to do such a thing. Sinister smiling on the dot. I have never, ever wished harm on this universe! It is just a lie brought to you by the mind of Jophiel.
If you are falling for these lies, you are feeble-minded. Of course I wish to take down the universe; of course I wish to strangle my brother every single waking moment; of course I am the evil Matriarch everyone makes me out to be. Exaggeration--the truth for I.
I sit up, dizzy from my shifting amounts of power. I was fully-charged and ready to roll.
"What is this?" I ask myself, feeling the ground. My mind tells me to hush and let the words come naturally. "The Prophet has fallen? Haha! I knew he would! My mind was sure of it." I snap, looking up at the ceiling. "And Evelyn...I am aware she has become a principle that obscures my powers, and that is why I feel so weak even with fully-charged batteries." I knew my church had fallen, though why did no one come for me? Had The Prophet forgotten to kill the serpentine woman? "Perhaps my brother told him to spare me. After all, he cannot exist without I." My eyes, red and more red, look around at the candles surrounding me. "So, Jophiel is king. The Prophet was to be the prince, yet declined--Evelyn should have been his princess. And I am supposed to be the queen." I continue my silly monologue, addressing the audience: "And the silly humans believe they can destroy me? I am a destruction god. Destruction doesn't come my way unless I say so!"
"You are awake," a voice charms. The man appears in front of me: the sibling I share my undying love with. "Hello, dear sister."
"My, dear brother, it has come to my attention that your Prophet has fallen." I do not smirk at this notion. When I spoke this, empathy passed between us. Both Jophiel and The Prophet felt they had been betrayed; both I and Jophiel felt betrayed by each other. "I am sorry."
