Chapter 9: Incorrect Family Tree Leads To Freedom

   The four of you sat in a room that was provided to you buy Shige. It was the end of your work so you all decided to go and discuss everything that happened. You, Fuu and Jin were sitting at the table while Mugen laying against the wall with his arms behind his head.
     "There's something fishy about this Shige guy." Fuu says with her chin resting on both of her hands. "I agree, it seems like everyone here is acting really strange." You say exhausted. It seemed like the work left you more tired than everyone else.
    "We at least have several days of lodging and food," Jin was saying trying to make you and Fuu feel a little better about the situation. "If we find treasure we should just snatch it and get outta here," Mugen said without opening his eyes. Fuu ignored him and continued talking about Shige. "That map was suspicious too..." Mugen interrupted her and yelled across the room to Sabini and Fuupa who were working on something. "How about something to eat?" He yelled, "You've got some food, right?"
    Both of them looked confused then walked over with a basket. "If you don't mind eating these." It looked like a weird root but Mugen didn't hesitate to begin shoving them into his mouth. "Wait!" Fuu said smelling the root and making a disgusted face, "what are these?"
   They're wasabi." They tell you and Mugen spits them out, grossed out by the taste. You really hoped this wasn't the only food option here.

    "They're working us like dogs." You can hear Mugen complaining as he and Jin carry rocks on their backs. You and Fuu on the other hand use pick axes to break apart the rocks and ground. "Hey Fuu, do you think that they'll actually find this treasure?" You ask her in between breaths. Before she answered a man spoke up.       
    "Apparently, they picked something up just beyond that bedrock." Sighing in relief you turn to Fuu. "Maybe we can leave sooner than we thought," you begin to tell her, but it was clear she wasn't listening. She was staring at the man who just spoke with a concerned look on her face. "Hey...what's up?"
     Hearing your question she looks at you. "Wasn't that mans right arm cut off?" Looking back you notice it was the man from the cave. His arm was fine aside from a scar. 'That is odd,' you think to yourself, 'maybe they were fixing it when they were in the room with us. However, that still doesn't explain how its almost perfect now...' Your thoughts are interrupted by a loud crash.
    "Whatever," you say outloud ignoring the crash, "I just hope they find this treasure soon so we can leave." Fuu agreed with you and you two went back to breaking up the rocks.

    You were sure that the four of you had been there for several days and you were beginning to get frustrated. It didn't seem like there was any progress being made and everyday seemed the same. You overheard the other workers saying how you lose track of time while working down there. Another one said that the five years spent there would come to an end once they found the treasure, which bothered you. Is the treasure really worth wasting 5 years of your life?
     You look over at Jin and Fuu and see that they are also listening to the workers speak. When one of them mentioned Kamakura and the rule of Genji they both stopped completely and turned to listen.
     "Were in the Tokugawa era now." Fuu said correcting them, but they ignored her and went on break.
    "Don't the people here seem a little strange to you?" she asked Jin and I. "Yeah I was thinking the same thing..." you say trying to think of why the other workers seem so off.
     A while later you and Fuu begin carrying rocks out of the cave when she stops and looks down at two men doing the same thing as us. However one of their arms falls off and neither seem to notice or care. "They're rotting..." Fuu says, "That could be why they eat only wasabi."
    "To stop themselves from rotting?" You ask and she nods. "We have to get out of here... You begin to say but stop when Shige approaches the both of you.
    "What do you think?" He asks putting a hand on Fuu's shoulder, causing her to jump. "Is it not the perfect place to forget the troubles of the floating world?"
   "Who are you people?" Fuu asks but Shiges answer was interrupted by a worker saying that they didn't have enough man power. Luckily Shige left to go summon more, which was a weird choice of words in your opinion, but your just glad he left you two alone.
    As you two got back to the place Shige had given you, you see Jin and Mugen in bad shape. They both look exhausted and sick but before you could ask what's wrong Fuu runs away quickly. "What's her problem?" Mugen asks weakly.
    "I'm not sure...we ran into Shige earlier so maybe thats bothering her, but are you guys alright?' You say joining Mugen as he sat against the house. "No, I'm beat..." Mugen says not looking at you.
    "Didn't that Heike family tree seem suspicious to you?" Jin asked not answering your question.
    "Not really, but if thats what's bothering you it's in here" Mugen said. "Should we take a look?" Jin asked The two of you. "You two can, I'm going to go find Fuu." You say and hurry off into the direction she ran.
     You end up in a dead forest and try tto see if you can spot her pink clothing when you hear a scream a little to the right. 'That has to be her' you think to yourself and start to run faster. Looking for her wasn't a problem anymore because she was running straight towards you still screaming. Behind her you could see bodies rising as if they had just woken up. "Fuu what's wrong!" You say when she reaches you out of breath, but she just grabs your hand and keeps running. Finally, you guys make it home and Fuu closes the door.
    "What happened?!" You ask again but get distracted when you see Jin and Mugen eating the wasabi again. Fuu screams and runs back out of the house only to be stopped by a group of men who appeared to be...zombies? Fuu faints and you quickly run to her side.
     "Now that you've discovered our little secret, it seems I have no choice but to kill you as well." Shige says walking towards you guys. What had he done to these people? What's really going on in this place?
    "Thats how its gonna be huh?" Mugen says walking out, "you should've said so in the first place." Mugen starts to attack the workers but they just get back up as if nothing happened.
    "They're already dead, its impossible to kill them." Shige says. 'So they really are zombies' you think to yourself, still staying with Fuu as she starts to wake up. "Mugen! Be careful!" You yell as the workers surround him and begin biting him. He manages to get out and slices Shiges head off, but that did nothing unfortunately. He just puts it back on and comes after you and Fuu.
    You can hear Mugen yelling in the background and Jin is still inside. Meanwhile Fuu was arguing about how the Heike and and the Genji are both dead, trying to explain it to Shige.
    "You've been digging here for 500 years not 5!" Fuu yells "Don't you guys realize you died a long time ago!?" Shige only laughs loudly at what she's saying and tells her she's spouting nonsense. Before you could say anything Jin comes out of the house with the family tree from earlier. "Take a look at this" he says and shows that Shiges line isn't connected with the tree, he's totally unrelated.
   "It can't be...I've been digging for so long," he starts to say, "all my hard work...it was all for nothing." His men begin to gather around and Shige attempts to tell them that they should forgive and forget, but by the look on their faces it didn't look like they wanted to do either.

    "I'm so glad thats over," you say to Mugen as the 4 of you walk away from the underground cave. "Yeah, what a waste is time, and we didn't even get any money out of it."
    "Well at least we can continue on our journey," you say smiling. You were excited to see what lay ahead and were happy traveling with those 3, despite all of the hard times you guys have been through. You noticed Mugen was looking at you confused, probably wondering why you were smiling after all that so you super quickly and got embarrassed. He noticed and smirked at you. "Let's hurry and find this sunflower guy," he said and you two follow Jin and Fuu to the next destination.

     After this is the filler episode of the baseball game so let me know if you guys want me to add that or skip it and continue the regular storyline
