Chapter 7: Pieces of The Past

Slowly opening your eyes, you find yourself on a boat. Its extremely cold and you realize that your sitting on the boat deck and your arms and legs are tied up, along with others around you. Everyone else had frightened looks on their face and looked like they haven't eaten in a while and now that you think about it your really hungry as well. You were about to ask the girl next to you if she knew what was going on when a man steps out. Judging by the way the other crew members acted, you assumed he this man was the leader. He was really big and was bald with a blue headband and he walked right up to where you where.
"All of you listen up!" he addressed you and the rest of the prisoners, "We're going to throw you guys in the ocean one by one, so who's first?" The grin that he made after he spoke sent chills through your spine. Why were you captured? Are they pirates?
Leaning over, you whisper to the girl next to you. "Do you know why he's throwing us overboard?" The girl just looked at you with fear in her eyes and shook her head. Before you could ask any more questions you feel a sharp pain in your stomach and fall on your side. The the captain that spoke earlier had kicked you in the stomach. "Im pretty sure I said no talking before we set sail," he said looking down at you then he kicks you again causing a sharp cry of pain to come out. All you could do was wonder where exactly you guys had set sail from as someone picks you up roughly and holds you to where your face to face with the captain. "I guess someone's eager to go first," he said smirking once more, then nodding to the person holding you. The person begins to walk over to the water. You wanted to free yourself badly but you were in too much pain so all you could do was close your eyes and wait for the cold water to hit you.
You feel yourself flying through the air and hitting the water with a hard slap. Water begins to fill up your lungs as you gasp for air....

You sit up quickly and begin to cough. Putting your hands up to your chest you realize that you just had a bad dream and sigh in relief. The dream seemed so real that it scared you. Looking around you realize that its already nighttime and the cabin was empty, even Mugen was gone. Getting to your feet you prepare to go out and search for them when Fuu bursts into the room.
"(Y/n)! Mugen and Sara are fighting!" She says panicking, then she grabs your arm and leads you towards the river.

You hear the clashing or weapons before you two reach the edge. Once you arrive you see Sara stabbing Mugen in the stomach and him falling into the water.
"MUGEN!" You and Fuu both screamed, and he began getting up shakily. "Why are they fighting like this? What happened?" you ask Fuu. You knew Mugen didn't really like Sara but you never would've imagined that his feelings were so strong. "I don't know," Fuu said in a pained voice then looked back to the fight. "STOP THIS RIGHT NOW!" she yelled but at this point it was useless.
Now Mugen had fallen to the ground and he was bleeding. Both you and Fuu rushed down the rocks to help him as Sara approached him.
"Stay back!" He yelled causing Fuu to stop, but you continued to run. "(Y/n) don't..." He started to say but you already reached him and stood between him and Sara. "Don't kill him!" You said to her holding your arms wide in a way to shield him. Turning around you see Fuu was also there laying over Mugens chest. "You can't kill him," she was saying.
The silence in the next couple seconds felt like it lasted forever to you. Finally Sara lowered her weapon and began to turn around and walk away. "Come back here," Mugen started to yell before coughing up blood. Fuu begins to help him and you watch Sara, making sure she leaves.

Back in the cabin you can hear Mugen and Fuu bickering about Mugens injuries. "I'll just let it heal itself," you heard Mugen say since it hurt every time Fuu tried to tend to it. Hearing Fuu sigh, you assumed that she gave up and let Mugen have his way. You sat outside, not wanting to interact with either of them. So much happened today and you were still shaken up about it all. From the dream to Mugen almost dying you felt really stressed out and alone. On the other hand you felt guilty that you weren't the one in there helping Mugen after all he's done for you. Before you realize it you begin crying again.
"You should come inside and eat," a voice says and you stand up so fast that it makes you dizzy. Wiping your face you look over and see Jin without his glasses leaning on a cane. He was holding a bag of something and staring at you confused. "Your alright," you say relieved and hoping that he couldn't see your tears in the dark. He nodded and gave you a small smile before peering through the window and asking Fuu and Mugen if they're hungry.
Once your all settled inside Jin rests while Fuu talks with him about Sara. Apparently he knew that she was trying to kill us. Mugen also joined the conversation from across the room and you sat away from them against the wall with your knees pulled to your chest. You noticed Mugen staring at you a few times but you still couldn't bring yourself to talk to him or anyone. Jin just got back and it didn't feel like the right time to start talking about yourself.
At some point you must've fallen asleep because you open your eyes to someone calling your name softly. You were still sitting up and look at Mugen who had moved next to you. Jin and Fuu were both fast asleep. "What is it Mugen," you ask in a tired voice and moved so you were laying on the floor. "Don't do that again."
You look at him, trying to figure out what he meant by that statement. Mugen moved to lay down next to you and put his arms behind his head. "Its not cool for a guy to let some girl die because of him." You realized he was talking about earlier when you guarded him from Sara. You turn over so that you can look him in the eyes. "I don't want you to die," you say in a serious tone, "so if I can prevent it I will."
He turned over to look at you then sighed, realizing that he wouldn't be able to change your mindset. "What was up with you today?" He asked changing the subject. You tell him whole dream you had since it seemed like an appropriate time. "I don't know what it could mean..." you end your story and begin shivering at the thought of choking on water. Mugen, noticing this he pulled you into his arms like last night. 'I guess this was going to be a thing from now on' you thought to yourself as you closed your eyes.
"Maybe thats another thing from your past," Mugen said suddenly. You thought about it as well as when you passed out in the river and it did make sense. "You know your actually kinda smart when you want to be," you say to him. Mugen stood up and began to grab his sword. You sat up thinking that you made him mad with your comment. "Mugen I was just kidding," you say but he just waves you off. "This isn't about you, I have something I need to take care off, stay here." He says then heads out into the night. It was storming and you watched the rain, wondering what he was talking about.
"He's going to find Sara," you hear Jin say in a weak voice. "Will he be alright?" you ask looking from the window to his spot on the floor. "I don't know..." Jin says closing his eyes. You wish you could disagree with him but honestly you weren't too sure either. You could only hope that it doesnt turn out like their last fight.
