You turned on your side and sighed on the soft pillow. At last you managed to rest...and it felt amazing! With a soft hum you brought a hand to your face and smiled, what was all of that craziness you were dreaming of?
Opening your eyes, crude reality hit you: it was not a dream.
The room was quiet and only one light was on in the nightstand on the other side of the bed. You looked around for a second and cleaned the sleep out of your eyes. Steve's uniform was on a chair next to the window, the shield resting next to it on the ground.
Your own uniform was in another chair, it had been cleaned and carefully folded, which made you feel guilty.
You could see the night sky through the window and forced yourself to leave the warmth and comfort of the bed so you could go meet with the rest of the team and face them.
You walked down the hall and found the stairs, as you started coming down you heard the voices of the Avengers talking from the kitchen.
You smiled down at the kids and Laura took them upstairs while you leaned on the door frame opposite from Steve, listening to Fury, he stared at you and nodded your way.
"You must be the Sphinx." He said.
You shifted the weight from one foot to the other, with raised brows.
"Is that what you're calling me?" You wondered half-jokingly. "Nice to meet you, sir." You went up to him and shook hands.
"Welcome to the team." He said, giving you a heavy look with his eye.
You nodded. "Thanks."
After that, you decided to go back to the door frame and lean on it as your body felt much better and you did not want to sit down just yet.
Mari stared at you from the small opening between the kitchen and the dining room, holding some darts as she played with Tony. You listened to Nick Fury and stared at your friend in the meantime.
"He keeps building bodies." Steve looked up at Tony and then back at Fury.
Banner spoke up after looking at Clint's daughter's drawing of a butterfly. He explained what he was doing and then mentioned Dr. Cho.
"We need a plan." You said. "He's gonna try to use the vibranium to make himself a body." You warned them and crossed your arms over your chest.
Everyone turned to you as if you had just grown a second head. You shrugged, it was in the movie...although that was something you could not say.
"Why else get that much vibranium if not for himself? Dr. Cho's cradle could be used to make it possible."
They accepted the explanation and everyone rushed upstairs to get ready for the mission. You waited for Mari and walked upstairs together.
"What happened to you?" Mari wondered.
You had not spoken since before the incident in the ship.
You stared down at the stairs while you walked with a hand on the handrail.
"I saw some things...about this place." You told her. "I told Steve."
"What?" She asked, stopping you by placing her hand on your arm.
"I told him I needed help to get back home." You said. "We're gonna have to speak to Thor."
Once upstairs she pulled you into her room, Tony was not there but there was a mess of metal on the bed.
"Here." She gave you another set of handles like the ones you took from her earlier. "This is the improved version." She said. "I might have...taken some vibranium from Klaue..." She bit her lip, "But the important thing is, this flies a lot faster, you just make sure to wear this..." She picked up a couple of large rings from her pile, "on your ankles."
