// Brace yourselves for this one! //

The robots attacked and you stood on the ground while Vision took to flying around. Kicking and punching the robots left your knuckles sore, it was not easy and you were only human, the metal bodies were stronger but you knew that while you were there a mistake on your part could mean the death of many people, including someone from the team or even yourself.

You did not have time to look around to make sure your friend was alright, you had to do your part and hope for the best while protecting the core so Tony could try to stop this.

"We gotta move out. Even I can tell the air is getting thin. You guys get to the boats, I'll sweep for stragglers, be right behind you." You heard Steve as the last of the robots tried to escape with Rhodes taking them out from the air.

"What about the core?" Hawkeye wondered.

"I'll protect it." Wanda said and turned to the core.

Mari looked back at the city and you pulled away from the team nodding your head.

"I'll stay with her."

You took a step back towards Wanda when Steve reached out and pulled your arm to stop you from moving farther. Blinking your eyes, you avoided everybody's glances and reached with your other hand to pull the glove off.

"It's our job."

You turned to her and extended your naked hand, hiding away the shame of having all of those pale scars covering your skin.

Steve let go and Wanda took two steps towards you, unsure of the idea. When her hand touched yours you directed her to show you what you needed; getting an idea of how your powers were supposed to work.

"Show me your past."

With that, Wanda showed you a quick image of herself and her brother hiding under a bed. You looked at their terrified faces as their parents were gone and they cried in silence while staring at the bomb threatening their lives.

You blinked back and she let go slowly. With a nod you let go as well, taking back your hand and pulling the other glove off.

"We'll guard it." Wanda said turning to Hawkeye who nodded and gave Mari and Natasha a look before taking off.

Captain was reluctant to move but he ended up nodding his head your way. With a smile on your face, as to hide the fear you felt for staying behind with such a difficult task, and saluted once more.

"You will take me dancing when this is over, Captain." You joked before he turned his back to you.

"It's a date." He pointed at you and you smiled at him.

When the blonde ran off, Wanda and you stayed behind to protect the core but she was unable to keep the comment to herself.

"I did not think you were capable of flirting." She said taking a stance behind the core while you covered the front.

"I didn't either!" You laughed.

"Are they done flirting?" Pietro stopped in front of you and shrugged. "We all heard it. A date. Good for you." He said in his thick accent as he looked around.

"I can handle this." Wanda warned him, extending her arm and hitting one of the robots with her red rays.

The silver haired boy smiled to the side and studied the surroundings as he spoke; reminding his sister that he was twelve minutes older.

"How about you?" He lifted his head, his chin turned towards you.

"I'll manage." You smiled at him and tried Wanda's powers for the first time.
