Imagine you and Newt both getting expelled.

"Marvin, you need to stay in here today," you whisper to your Demiguise whilst pushing it back into your room. The sad look in his ocean blue eyes almost compels you to take him with you but you knew how much trouble you'd be in if anyone found out you had a magical creature as a pet. Thank goodness you had the room all to yourself.

As you're about to close the door, Marvin leaps onto your shoulder and nuzzles into your neck. You sigh before carefully placing him in your jacket. He was still a baby, he was easy to hide now and then but you were scared because in the future, you would have no place to hide him other than your bedroom. There was no part of you that wanted to get rid of him but when he grows up, you'll have no choice, unless you somehow leave Hogwarts early.

He grips onto your body, cuddling into you for warmth. He turns himself invisible so he is able to watch what's going on around him without being caught by anyone. He knew the drill.

As you walk down the corridor that leads you to your house common room, you can hear people snoring soundly in their rooms. It was way past curfew, probably around 2:00am but Newt, your best friend, really wanted to find a Jarvey that night and you wanted nothing more than to help him find one in the forbidden forest, but of course, you had to break a couple rules to get there.

You see Newt awkwardly standing in the middle of your common room, hands in his pockets, looking down at the floor. When he sees you, he jumps a little, probably scared that you were someone else from the house but as soon as he realizes it was you, his mouth turned into a wide smile.

Marvin, who loved Newt almost as much as he loved you, made himself visible. This caused Newts wide smile to become even wider. He crouched down and opened his arms wide to let Marvin run into them, which is exactly what he did. Newt picked him up and placed him on his shoulder, to which Marvin attempted to wiggle into the front of his jacket.

"Let me guess, he did the eye thing again," Newt chuckles, knowing that you usually were more cautious about bringing Marvin out into Hogwarts.

You shrug and nod, "How can you say no to that face?". Marvin looks at Newt and does his best sad face, causing Newt to return it with kind eyes.

You were surprised you hadn't noticed it before but behind Newt, standing by the door, was Leta Lestrange. You weren't sure why her presence had made you feel angry but it did. "Hello, Leta."

She gives you a shy smile before saying, "Hello Y/N." Newt hadn't told you that Leta was supposed to be going with you two. This made you sad because you were looking forward to be the person to help Newt find the Jarvey but now your role was being shared.

Before you three left to go to the forbidden forest, Newt looks to you and mouths "Are you okay?", his eyes radiating kindness. You nod, even though you weren't okay, because you didn't want to ruin Newt's night.

Surprisingly, getting to the forbidden forest was a lot easier than it had been all the other nights you'd went. There were no professors or ghosts roaming the halls, even the paintings were all sleeping deeply enough to not hear your feet. Other than a few cats here and there, the halls of the school were completely empty and quiet.

As soon as you got into the forest, you noticed Leta starting to get a little antsy and eventually, so does Newt. "What's wrong?" he asks, seeming genuinely protective.

She sighs before explaining, "It's just it's really dangerous in here, we haven't got anything to protect ourselves other than our wands, and Y/N isn't even good at defence spells so she might get hurt. Or you could get hurt, Newt."
