A/N: I know the picture has nothing to do with this chapter but omg look at that adorable man.

au: modern day

Imagine teaching Newt to drive.

Newt clicks on his seatbelt and then looks over to you for assurance. "I can't, love."

You sigh before grabbing one of his hands that he had rested on the steering wheel and giving it a warm squeeze. "You can. Just take a deep breath and start the car, turning the key."

Newt does as instructed and begins turning the key. The car engine revs to life causing Newt to jump. He immediately turns off the car. He looks over towards you to see how you would react.

"Newt," you say trying to calm him down. "You'll be fine."

He continues to look at you with nothing but nerves spread all over his face. You pause and reach over to give him a small peck on his lips. When you pull away, the nerves on his face had been washed away and you could already sense that he was more relaxed.

He again begins to turn on the car and this time allows the engine to roar to life.

"Okay, the car is on, so all you have to do now is put your foot on the brake."

He does what you say and then you switch the gears to Park into Drive.

"Y/N, I'm scared."

You can't help but laugh at Newt. The man who seeks the most dangerous magical beasts is scared to drive.

"There's no reason to be scared. Just take it slow." You show him the gas and brake pedals and remind him to keep his left foot over on the side away from any of the pedals. You then show him how to turn on the turn signals and check his mirrors. After that he seemed to feel more assured of himself.

"Ready to drive?" you ask giving him a small grin.

He sighs, a grin spread on his own face. You could tell he was getting excited. "I think so."

You simply instruct him to lift his foot off the brake. When he does, the call begins to roll forward slowly.

He breaths quickly, "I'm driving," he grips the wheel as tight as he possibly can. "I'm driving Y/N!" Theres an insanely adorable look on his face. Like a child waking up on Christmas morning.

"You are!" you say trying to encourage his excitement.

The parking lot you were driving in was completely empty and very spacious so you tell Newt to slightly put his foot on the gas.

When he puts his foot on the gas pedal the car jolts forward and accelerates a little too much.

"Woah there cowboy! Brake! Brake."

Newt slams the brakes causing the car to stop abruptly and throw your bodies forward.

Newt looks over once again, he frowns. "Sorry."

You laugh, "That's okay. Now you know how touchy the pedals are so you can really get a feel for it. Try again but be very light this time."

When he starts moving again the car is going at a reasonable speed. You were impressed with how smooth he was driving.

"Good, now I want you to pretend that parking space is a stop sign," you point towards a parking space in the corner of the lot.

Newt nods and comes to a complete stop before reaching the parking spot. This time his braking was good, no jolts.

"Good job Newt," you say giving him appraisal. He looks proud of himself. He turns the car around and drives around the parking lot, this time using the turn signals.

"How am I doing?" he says 5 minutes into driving around the lot.

"Perfect, amazing, awesome, and any other synonym of those words. I'm proud of you," I give him a wink and he smiles wide.

"This is so fun!" he exclaims. "Can I drive you to work everyday from now on?"

You chuckle. "You're good but I don't know if your good enough to be on the roads yet. We will see in a few weeks okay?"

He nods, completely understanding.

Eventually he stops the car and tries to park. Although his parking could use some improvement, you weren't going to critique it. He had all the time in the world to get better.

He turns off the car and smiles towards you.

"Done?" you ask surprised he would want to stop based on how much he enjoyed it.

"You know what I just realized?" he asks taking off his seat belt.

"What's that?" you reply, genuinely curious about what he was about to say.

"You know how in every movie about teenagers the guy always takes the girl to a lookout or something and they make out in the back of the car?" he asks.

You nod laughing and can't help but blush knowing what Newt was trying to get at.

"I've never done that." He gives you a smirk causing your face to go completely hot.

"You're a dork," you say leaning over to give him a peck on his lips.

"It's a rite of passage for driving right?"

"No, but we can make it one."

He laughs and quickly jumps to the back seat of the car.

That's Newt, the dorkiest person on the planet. And that was the exact reason you were so in love with him.
