Hello, the name's Neveah, I live in Florida with my dad, and... that's it I guess...
"Why don't you just leave like your mom did! Just disappear, nobody would notice! You're NOT worth anything!"
I get this all the time, every day, like clock work. I'm picked on and bullied because of the choices my parents made, my mother chose to up and leave my dad, my sister, and I when I was only five years old. That's when the drinking started. It was one beer a night, but it progressed to three, seven, all day drinking, and that's when the abuse began.
"Neveah," I look up at the school counselor, his green eyes full of concern for me, "What happened?"
I just stare at the floor. I think about answering the question, but then I decide not too. But like always, he continued to sit there, patiently waiting for me to say something, anything. The look in his eyes trying to coax me into talking.
"Nothing happened, I was in a hurry this morning. I forgot my backpack, and when I ran into the kitchen I tripped on the wet tile and hit my face on the island."
This obviously wasn't the case, but I did kinda tell the truth. I WAS running late this morning, running late from slipping out of the house unnoticed, but he caught me at the front door... Mr. Bickers knew I was lying, but couldn't do anything and sent me off to class.
