SOULMATE AU BC THE ONE I'M WORKING ON NOW IS bumming me out man
Ashton:
Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple. Each a hue with a special meaning to those who get to see them. Six colors means a soulmate, six colors means a full life, six colors is what every young person dreams about when their world is confined to shades of grey.Colors are learned through the love of your soulmate, coming one by one until one's vision is painted in brilliant shades.
So far, you had two. You had only met your soulmate, Ashton, a few weeks ago but already you could see yellow and purple. Yellow was the sun rays smiling down on you when your eyes first locked, and purple was the color of the flowers he bought for you on your first date. You loved them both dearly, despite how strange everything looked now.
But you really just wanted more. You wanted the other four, you wanted to see a rainbow and the color of Ashton's eyes. You wanted red and orange and blue and green! But quite honestly, you mostly just wanted Ashton in every sense. He was truly your other half and you could tell in the way he smiled and laughed, or tickled you. You could tell by the way your hands locked together, fingers intertwined with silent promises and cheeks blooming with anticipations of forever.
You used to be scared of the future and what it meant, but now you were excited because it meant Ashton, he was your future and whatever happened he'd be there.
He was everything, filling in and soothing the jagged edges of your broken mind and soul with his own. The two of you locked together like puzzle pieces snapping into place and you couldn't wait to see the picture that would form.
You knew in the warm tingles that spread through your body when you thought of him, the shocks on your skin when he touched you, and the deep happiness that his presence created. You knew in his strong handsome features, in his firm chest and soft smile. You knew in the way he kissed you goodbye and hugged you hello. You knew you loved him. Even if you hadn't said it yet. Even if it hadn't been that long. You knew deep in every fibre of your being that you were his and he, yours.
This was what a soulmate was.
And you had to tell him.
Your next date was a walk through the park even though it was cold and you'd have to bundle up. You loved the crisp wind and the way it stung your cheeks.
You were sitting on the bench you had planned to meet at, buried inside a warm jacket with your neck shielded by a purple scarf. It was your favorite now that you could tell the color. You shivered subconsciously, unsure if it was because you were cold or just impatient to see Ashton and blurt out the eight letters sitting heavy on your heart.
"Y/N!" You heard him before you saw him, he was coming up the opposite way you had been looking, but his voice was so well imprinted in your mind already you would've recognized it anywhere. Your head swiveled around and a smile immediately spread across your face as you stood and faced the direction he was coming in.
"Ashton!" You replied happily. I love you! You thought, but that kind of thing wasn't something you just yell at an unsuspecting boy.
He jogged lightly to meet you, and immediately threw his arms around your waist, pulling you close to him so he could give you a signature hug and press a kiss to your hairline. "It's only been a day since I've last seen you and yet I've been missing you terribly," he sighed and rest his face in the crook of your neck.
You giggled in agreement, "a day is a very long time," you reminded him.
"They weren't as long before I met you," Ashton said breathily, "you bend time darling, when we're together the hours melt, and when we're apart the clocks seem to stop." And wow, you were swooning. It was just too much for your senses, the swooning, his warm breath that smelled like cinnamon fanning your face, his strong arms locked around your waist as he held you close, the little flecks of yellow floating in his eyes, and the pet name all did you in.
You couldn't help it when you blurted it out, "I love you."
For a moment he was stunned, he was completely still, staring down at you with a shocked expression. Just as you were about to panic thinking you had messed up, a huge grin spread across his face and he leaned down to capture your mouth in a searing kiss.
Your eyes squeezed shut and your hands flew up to grip his shoulders as your mind could think of nothing but Ashton.
When your lungs began to burn he pulled back and breathlessly whispered, "I love you too," across your lips.
Your eyes flew open and when you looked back up at his face is was so different. You could see the light shading of pink across his cheeks and the deep shade of his swollen lips. But mostly, you could just see the love in his eyes as he whispered it back again and again peppered between affectionate kisses.
You found red, and it was love.
