I'M DOING ASHTON: HOSPITAL: DDM

and it's cute not sad

Ashton:
One of the most rewarding yet completely difficult things that Ashton had ever done, was become a father. He loved you with every fiber of his being, which made your safety and well-being very important to him. He had a slight tendency to be overly protective, which annoyed you as you grew older.

"Daaad," you complained as he smeared sunscreen across your face, "I don't need it, we're just as the park and it's not even that sunny." You tried to dodge his hands but he was nimble and determined.

"And if you want to stay at the park I suggest you hold still," he grumbled as you again dodged his hands. He was just trying to make sure you didn't burn like last time.

With that threat, you froze and squeezed your eyes shut, face still pulled down in a definite frown as you allowed him to finish covering your face before stepping back. "Alright, I'll be over here, you can go play."

You watched as your father sat down in the shade-covered bench overlooking the playground as you ran over toward the slides. The playground was new, and since many people hadn't discovered it yet, you got the whole thing to yourself. Bring blue tubes to climb through, rock walls and yellow slides. You liked being able to scramble around and enjoy some time in the fresh air. You had just reached the bottom of the tallest, bright red slide, when something caught your eye. You hadn't noticed before, but there was also a new set of shiny yellow monkey bars.

Now, monkey bars had always been on the list of things your father wouldn't allow you to do unless he was in the immediate vicinity, spotting you. You'd never really needed to be caught once you'd got the hang of them, but he was always paranoid you'd slip off and hurt yourself.

Well, you'd show him. You were eight, plenty old enough to go on the monkey bars all by yourself. So you walked from the slide to the base of the ladder for the bars and started climbing up. Since the monkey bars were on the opposite side of the playground than the bench, you seemed to be safe from intervention as your father would assume you got distracted by a bug or some other harmless object. When you reached the top of the ladder, you carefully leaned forward and wrapped your hands around the first bar. It was slightly higher up than you anticipated, so you had to let out a deep breath before you could push off and let your legs swing forward. You held tight to bar for a moment as you got used to it, but then you easily reached forward with your right hand and grabbed the next bar, quickly moving your left so you could swing yourself forward. You waited for a shorter period before you moved forward again, and you laughed loudly as you began to see just how fast you could swing from bar to bar as your confidence swelled.

You were at your max speed when your now sweaty right hand slipped from the bar you were reaching for. You didn't have time to react before you were automatically pushing yourself forward from your left arm, and then let go. Reflexively, your arms came down to protect you as you fell, and you landed on your right wrist before your body hit the ground.

You swore you felt it snap under the pressure and you cried out in pain as you rolled from your stomach to your back, not caring about the wood-chips clinging to your body.

"Y/N? SWEETIE?" Your Father reacted before you had the chance to begin to properly cry as he sprinted around the playground to see you lying on the ground. "Oh Y/N! What happened? What hurts lovebug?" He kneeled next to you but was careful not to touch you as you whimpered quietly.
