"Princess, wake up!" Matthew whisper yelled at me.
"Sorry. I didn't sleep last night. I developing the anti-sleep serum and my energy was drained fast because of my lack of sleep, but I feel lots better." I purred, stretching.
"Well, Brandon and his mini army are here, they are fighting side by side with your army. I couldn't stop them from torturing you." Matthew apologized.
"It's okay. I know you tried very hard. I thank you. The position is always yours. Now let's cut us down, yeah?" I asked, imagining the rope wearing down and breaking, setting us free, and a few seconds later we crashed to the floor, causing the perfect distraction, as I staggered into view.
"How did the princess escape?" someone asked.
"I used my magic, duh. Great! I look ugly! Matthew where's my first-aid kit. I got to look pretty. I have a concert tomorrow." I gasped looking in a mirror and whined in the back of my throat.
"They punched me in the eyes so I can't see, my darling princess." Matthew apologized, pointing to his eyes.
"Whatever. I can do this without the first-aid kit." I sighed, and healed Matthew first, before I set to work healing myself as the battle continued. Soon I was fully healed and the battle was over.
"Thanks for believing in us princess." Brandon told me sourly.
"Brandon, listen to me. I knew you guys would come. I also knew that you would need the help of the army. I do believe in you guys, very much, which is why, you guys are now my other bodyguards, but Matthew is my main one, though. I just can't replace Matty. That just isn't fair. You guys even went stared into the face of death for me." I gushed, swaying a little, and every pair of eyes were riveted to me.
"How much magic did you use?" Matthew asked.
"Uh...I don't know. Why?" I asked.
"I think she drained her reserves, again." Matthew announced to the whole group.
"Well she can sleep on the ride home. I stole her SUV. There is plenty of room for her to lay down." Brandon offered.
"No. Matty is going to carry me home. We don't live very far." I grumbled, yawning.
"Princess Shyla, do you know where you are?" a military official asked me.
"In my garage?"
"No. You are on Batsam. In your palace. You need to be near your mother, so we are teleporting you back to Earth. You need your beauty rest, obviously, because I doubt you have pink hair and red eyes." the military official answered, stifling a laugh.
"Oh. Okay. Matty, someday we have to see Batsam." I smiled and leaned into Matthew as I fell asleep, quickly.
"Wow. She really did use up her energy reserves. I remember when her mother used up her energy reserves she fell asleep instantly, but she has more power though." the military official gasped in awe.
"Yeah she does. On Earth, she made it rain because she was sad." Matthew bragged, picking me up and carrying me as he followed the military official.
"So the stories are true?"
"Yeah. She is pure royalty. There was no scandal going on."
"Do you think that maybe you guys can stay and she can do that again here and show everybody?" the military official asked, hopeful.
"Yeah." Matthew answered, and then I screamed.
"MOM!?!"
"Princess Shyla is everything alright?" the military official asked, concern on his face.
"No. My mom. She is not on Earth. Set me down, Matty. I have to find my mom." I growled, struggling to get free.
"Fine. We will find her together. Where do you smell her?" Matthew asked, setting me down.
"In that weird building." I answered running faster than light to find my mom, but it felt like I was running through quicksand, as my mom's natural floral scent filled my noses, getting stronger the closer that I got.
"Princess! Wait up!" Matthew shouted from behind me,but I didn't stop until I saw my mom, an arrow protruding from her chest.
"Matty, that's my mom. I can bring her back. The arrow didn't pierce her heart, I can bring her back." I whispered, kneeling beside my mom as I gently pulled out the arrow in her chest.
"Sweetie." my mom whispered, losing strength, fast.
"Yes, mom?" I answered.
"Go. You have to rule Batsam. Don't spend any more time on Earth, or you will grow weak like your father and I." she whispered to me and a soft, pale yellow light rose from her body, and I knew that was her soul.
"Until I see you again, mother, I will rule the best I can." I whispered, tears welling up in my eyes as I stood and it started to rain outside.
"Stop the rain. You will lose your strength." Brandon ordered.
"Excuse me! I just lost my mother! Don't you dare tell me what to do. You may be heartless, but I am not. In the past week, I lost both of my parents! There is absolutely no way you can possibly understand how hurt I am!" I yelled, storming off. Dismissing everyone, even Matthew.
"Princess? I understand you are hurt. I am hurt too. You lost your parents, but I lost the people who took a chance with me and let me take care of you. I won't fail them, or you." Matthew whispered when he found me sitting underneath a tree an hour later.
"Matty, what am I going to do now? I don't want to have to rely on anybody, but with my parents' death I have nobody who can train me in what I need to be trained in." I sighed, patting the ground next to me, as the rain continued.
"Now, you just wing it. You did a perfect job on Earth."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Look, princess, I would do anything for you, but I won't lie to you. That is not in my job description."
"Matty, thanks for being there for me." I sighed, leaning my head against his shoulder and closing my eyes.
"Your are very much welcome, Princess Shyla." He whispered, kissing my hand.
What I didn't know was that Matty was going to tell me that he didn't want to be my bodyguard, but at that minute he decided that it was worth the risk to be near me everyday. He was also chicken. He didn't tell me how he truly felt, which was such a shame. So far my parents died for those just clueing in. Man, my life was hard in my first few months as an alien princess. I wasn't alienated yet, but I was just about there. It wasn't until I went back to Earth that everything went downhill.
