"Princess Shyla, are you sure you want to be here? On Batalan?" Matty asked.
"Yeah, why?" I asked, letting the elves out of the bag I brought with me.
"Oh. That's why. You brought the elves along as well." Matty reprimanded.
"Yeah. I couldn't just let them die in that fire. We were supposed to be the only ones, so the humans believed it. Since, I am apparently stuck on Batsam for the rest of my life." I grumbled, following an elderly elf to a cottage, and holding the door open for the elf, as I knelt to enter the house through the door, careful not to bump into anything.
"I could make my house bigger, your majesty?" the elder elf offered, her voice held a soft quiver in it.
"It is fine. I shall make Matty and I smaller." I smiled gently and used my magic to make Matty and I smaller as we talked to the elf.
"You shouldn't use your magic to often, Princess Shyla." Matty spoke after we shrunk.
"Oh, Matty, you sweet naive guard. The princess should use her magic all the time to strengthen it and keep it close to the surface. You have only one more test left before you can take the throne that is rightfully yours. You have to prove yourself to the people and pass the test before you can claim the throne. I am going to be your guide, through the test. Each person going after the throne has a guide. I am yours, I chose you since before you were born, because you have many possibilities." the elderly elf spoke, handing me a flower made of pink crystals, that glowed faintly in her hands, but glowed brighter when it neared me.
"Why did it do that?" I asked as she pulled it away from me.
"You might just be able to pass the test. This flower glows bright when someone is close enough to it and they have what it takes to rule over Batsam. Here keep the flower, put it in your hair or on your clothes, but keep it on your person at all time, my dear." the elderly woman stated, braiding the flower into my hair.
The fragrance from the flower assaulted my nose in sweet tones. I got the scent of sugar canes and peppermints and something really fruity.
"What are you smelling from the flower?" the elderly woman asked, suddenly, interrupting me from breathing the scents in deeply.
"I smell sugar canes, peppermints, and fruits." I answered honestly, breathing in the smell some more, feeling in heaven.
"I don't smell that. I smell ocean and feet." Matty grumbled, sniffing the flower, in disgust.
"The scents you smell reflect your inner character. You smell ocean and feet because your are more bloodthirsty because of your genetics. She smells the sugar cane of kindness, the peppermints of slight evilness and the fruits of everything nice and good." the elderly woman explained to Matty and answering my unspoken question.
"So that means I am slightly evil?" I gasped in shock, clearly not expecting to be even remotely evil, okay, I admit it. I expected it just a little bit, but still, who wants to hear that straight to their face?
"Yes, it does, your majesty. Don't worry it is just only a little fraction, if you were more evil you wouldn't smell peppermints." She smiled at me, hugging me and smelling the flower. "Just like your grandfather." She whispered in my ear.
"Really?" I asked, surprise coloring my tone.
"Yeah. Very much like him indeed."
"Well, Miss Elfeya, we must go and get our rest. I hope to see you later." I smiled, squeezing her hand, before pushing Matty towards the door, stifling a yawn behind my hand.
"That's quite alright dear. Get some sleep. Your test starts tomorrow in the morning. I will be there to wake and dress you." Miss Elfeya spoke, closing the door behind us as we walked away, growing to full length.
"Don't worry about your final test, you will do great, Princess Shyla." Matty spoke before sprinting to the castle trying to outrace me. I sprinted after him and beat him to door.
"I win. Let's go to sleep now. I need my beauty rest, don't you agree?" I yawned.
"Yes. I will escort you to your bed-" Matty started to say, but I teleported to my chambers and flopped on the bed and fell instantly asleep.
